French President Francois Hollande has attended a traditional military parade to mark Bastille Day in Paris.

Jets released trails of the national flag colours, red white and blue, above crowds on the Champs-Elysees avenue.

The parade was led by troops from Mali along with French troops who took part in the country's intervention there to repel an Islamist insurgency.

Jeffrey Payment, a tourist from London, who watched the parade said: "I can feel very proud now, even if I'm not French, I feel very proud."

Too short to excerpt. And good. They should be honored.
