Hernandez admitted shooting Lloyd?

Documents show a man linked to the murder case against former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez told police Hernandez admitted firing the fatal shots.

Carlos Ortiz reportedly told Massachusetts investigators that another man, Ernest Wallace, said Hernandez admitted shooting Odin Lloyd in an industrial park near Hernandez's Massachusetts home.

The documents were filed in court by the Miramar, Fla., police department to justify a search of Wallace's home in that city.

The documents also say that while investigating Lloyd's killing, police did searches in Bristol, Conn., that turned up a vehicle wanted in connection with a July 2012 double homicide in Boston.

Police say the vehicle had been rented in the name of Hernandez.

Court papers unsealed by a judge and released Tuesday revealed that an "argumentative" Hernandez slammed the door of his home in the face of officers who first questioned him, and that the former Patriots tight end showed no apparent concern for the fact police were investigating Lloyd's  death.

Hernandez is one of three men who have been arrested and charged in the alleged murder of Lloyd, though the court papers — an affidavit attached to search warrants — reveal police have yet to find what they believe to be the murder weapon.

Neither does the affidavit reveal an apparent motive.

It does, however, reveal that police discovered ammunition, as well as a scale and a dish locked in a safe inside Hernandez's North Attleboro, Mass., home.

The court papers also say:

Police found a gun in one vehicle in Hernandez's driveway, ammunition in a car registered to him parked outside an apartment he rented near his house and shell casings in a car Hernandez had rented.

There also are records of text messages sent from Hernandez to Lloyd hours before the murder and accounts of gun shots and a door slamming heard near the crime scene in the early morning hours of June 16.

Hours later, police tried to question Hernandez at his home but were unable to get anyone to come to the door, despite their being able to see "a television and numerous lights" on inside.

Police then questioned Hernandez's neighbor, Patriots assistant coach Joe Judge, who told him he hadn't seen Hernandez since the end of the team's minicamp four days prior.

Police spotted Hernandez leaving his residence and questioned him about the Chevrolet Suburban he had rented. Hernandez told them he rented it for "O," whom he then identified as "Odin," the victim whose body police had found near Hernandez's home with keys to the Suburban in his pocket.

Hernandez told police he knew Lloyd because Lloyd was dating his "girlfriend's sister" and had been "up his way yesterday."

Hernandez's "girlfriend" has been previously described as his fiancee. Her name is Shayanna Jenkins, and the court papers indicate she initially cooperated with police and identified Lloyd as a "marijuana dealer."

Police say Hernandez told Jenkins his agent recommended she stop talking to police and instead suggest they speak to her attorney.

Hernandez eventually asked officers, "What's with all the questions?" He told police they'd have to speak to his attorney and shut the door. He returned with a business card for his lawyer, at which point officers told Hernandez they were investigating a death.

That's when he slammed and locked the door, according to police.

"Aaron Hernandez did not ask the officers whose death was being investigated nor did he display any outward signs of concern," the affidavit reads.

A pal of gridiron star Aaron Hernandez said the former New England Patriot admitted to pulling the trigger that killed his friend in an industrial park last month, according to documents filed yesterday.

Carlos Ortiz told Massachusetts investigators that another friend, Ernest Wallace, heard the tattooed former National Football League tight end confess to slaying semi-pro-football player Odin Lloyd, the documents said.

Ortiz also said he was in the car with Hernandez, Wallace and Lloyd the night of the shooting. Ortiz said the car suddenly stopped in the industrial park and everyone, except Ortiz, got out to urinate.

Ortiz said he heard the gunshots before Hernandez and Wallace got back in the car and sped away — without Lloyd. Ortiz said it was too dark to see who fired the shots.

Back at Hernandez’s home, Ortiz said, Wallace asked him to get a small gun from under the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Wallace faces a charge of accessory to murder and has pleaded not guilty.

The revelations were included in 156 pages of police affidavits used to support search warrants served on the murder suspect, a former University of Florida football player. ...
