Weeks ago sources inside the government reported to The Examiner that the Obama administration was on the brink of being rocked by yet another scandal.
Still reeling from Benghazi, the IRS scandal, and the scandal involving the illegal tracking of the news media, including the Associated Press (AP), the administration, said informants, would be forced to contend with yet another example of widespread corruption that has come to be a symbol of the manner in which the administration operates. This was referred to as "the fourth shoe," meaning the fourth scandal that has shaken the administration in recent months along with the earlier three, Benghazi, the IRS, and the news media.
However, the scandal revealed today appears not to be the one identified by earlier sources, who suggested that they have knowledge of a mammoth scandal involving the CIA and Benghazi. Thus, there may be a fifth shoe lurking in the shadows that will rear its ugly head before this is over.
But regardless of how many scandals are waiting in the wings, the "fourth shoe" has now dropped, according to a special report issued today by, ironically, the AP -- the very organization that was first targeted by the administration in its vendetta against the news media.
The AP and other outlets are reporting today that administration officials created multiple aliases and traveled on the Internet, including sending and receiving emails, by disguising themselves with pseudonyms, in direct violation of sunshine laws that require government officials to actually be who they say they are when conducting official government business.
The seriousness of this latest scandal is indicated by Thomas Lifson of American Thinker:
The Associated Press has uncovered what may become a vast new scandal for the Obama administration: the possibly widespread use of covert email accounts by political appointees, enabling evasion of sunshine laws designed to protect the public.
One of the key administration officials reportedly implicated in the latest scandal is HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and others within the department.
The EPA is also named as one of the major offenders in this scandal. Lifson continues,
This looks very bad indeed. Former EPA administrator Lisa Jackson has already lost her hob owing to her use of the pseudonym "Richard Windsor" in correspondence with both agency officials and outsiders, including environmental activists. These communications ought to be available through Freedom of Information Act requests, but the use of a covert email account circumvents FOIA search requests.
Lifson contends that if administration officials felt the need to go to such lengths to hide their identities, then one can rest assured that they are hiding something really big. And it is no coincidence that many of the government employees implicated just so happen to be working on the implementation of Obamacare.
