DISGRACEFUL: Dem. Congressman Blames IRS Victims For Being Targeted...
June 04, 2013

"If you didn't come in and ask for this tax break, you would've never had a question asked of you."

Congressman Jim McDermott, a Democrat,  said that the groups targeted by the IRS had it coming since they filed paperwork seeking a special tax status with the federal government:

1. The only "tax break" requested by conservative organizations (in the form of 501(c)(4) status) was the "privilege" of not having their income taxed twice - once when earned by their individual members, and twice when pooled in support of like-minded candidates.

2. Progressives are Borg-like in their fanatical commitment to the collective Hive: no wrongdoing is ever admitted, no failing is ever recognized, no dissension is ever tolerated.

3. When the behavior of a conservative person or organization is in question, Progressives treat mere allegations as proof of guilt on the part of the accused. When the behavior of a Progressive individual or group is similarly challenged, Progressives treat all such allegations as proof of guilt on the part of the accusers.
Liberalism isn't really about making the world a better place. It's about reassuring the elites that they are good people for wanting to rule over it.

This is vulgarity in pure form.
For the progressive, there is very little to love about the United States. Washington, Jefferson, Madison? A bunch of rotten slaveholders, hypocrites, and cowards even when their hearts were in the right places. The Declaration of Independence? A manifesto for the propertied classes. The Constitution? An artifact of sexism and white supremacy. The sacrifices in the great wars of the 20th century? Feeding the poor and the disenfranchised into the meat-grinder of imperialism. The gifts of Carnegie, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Morgan, Astor? Blood money from self-aggrandizing robber barons. Nat Rev

Your points 2 and 3 are on the mark, and an endless source of frustration for me.

Dem. Rep. Lashes Out at Targeted Witnesses: You Asked For It

by Tony Lee 4 Jun 2013, 9:12 AM PDT

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) not only blamed the victims of the IRS's targeting on Tuesday--he also implied the IRS would have been justified targeting conservative and Tea Party groups if the agency did so based on what the groups stood for instead of on the words in their names.

At a House Ways and Means hearing in which six leaders of organizations the IRS had targeted were testifying, McDermott said the "mistake here was the staff used the names of the organizatiions instead of the work they do."

McDermott lashed out at the witnesses, saying "each of your groups are highly political" and said that Tea Party and conservative groups that were essentially asking for "a tax break" were trying to game the system and should have been scrutinized for submitting applications for tax-exempt status. He continued by saying taxpayers should know "which side you fall on" and whether groups were interested in finding voters who vote without IDs or doing things like promoting Communist views.

He called the hearings a "circus" and "political theatre" and accused Republicans for looking for a "conspiracy" that did not exist. He suggested the law should be rewritten to prevent groups that engage in political activity from getting tax-exempt status.

He also then went on a rant against George W. Bush and accused the Bush administration of targeting liberal groups "without any concern."

An exasperated Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), who was the next to question, told the witnesses, "so you're to blame ...I guess that's the message." Ryan noted that he asked ousted acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller whether the agency targeted groups that had names affiliated with progressive groups in their application, and Miller replied those groups were not targeted.

Regrettably, GD, it won't make any difference. McDermott represents a district that is primarily inclusive of Seattle and it's one of the most Liberal districts in the country. This offensive old coot should have been gone from Congress long ago but the doofuses that infest Seattle probably agree with him entirely, may even think he didn't go far enough, believing that Conservatives should all be rounded up and sent to reeducation camps.

It's a little like blaming the rape victim for having walked down the street, as if that act invited and even caused her assailant to yank her into a dark alley.

Good analogy! Democrats always demand to be the victim. Before the democrats are finished, they will be the victims of the Tea Party.
