Off-the-record discussions about matters of grave public concern?  From the "most transparent administration in history"?  Even the NYT manages to do something right from time to time and this is definitely one of those times.  Seems to me the Obama (mal)administration thought it was going to have another circle-the-wagons meeting with its lapdog media.

Memo to the administration.

The media put you there and has covered for you. Pissing them off is probably not a good idea.
