Firearms used by Boston bombers

Anyone know what firearms were used by the Bombers in Boston?  It seems there is a news blackout on it.  Someone said an M-4 rifle was used.

In the past, the police would give a photo op of the firearms while calling for tougher gun control laws and demands the SENATE re-vote on the AW ban.   In this case there is....nada.

Something is not right here.

Good question. I just assumed they were the usual pistols one might buy on the street, 9 mm or something like that, but really had no idea.
