Tie his desire for cuts to military pay to the VA scandal, and the GOP has another gold-plated issue to beat the hell out of the Democrats with in November.

Very little chance of that. 

The Senate Conservatives Fund crowd are already crowing that they'll stay home or vote for Alison Grimes in Kentucky.  These ideological zealots are a scourge in politics.

They will NEVER be satisfied because there is no candidate who will live up to their expectations.
