Ohio Lawmakers Push Resolution to Put Pete Rose in Baseball Hall of Fame

Two Ohio lawmakers are jumping into the fray to get famed Cincinnati Reds player Pete Rose into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Rose was banned for life from being inducted into the Hall of Fame over his gambling, and it is assumed the ban will be lifted upon his death. But many have been fighting to get him inducted while he is still alive to see it happen, Fox News reported.

Now, Ohio Reps. Bill Seitz and Tom Young are working to convince MLB and officials at Cooperstown to lift the ban on the 83-year-old player by sponsoring a resolution asking MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to end the penalty on the player known as “Charlie Hustle.”

“From the standpoint of talent in the game, there’s nobody better. Period,” said Rep.Seitz, who also said it is “hypocritical” of MLB to ban Rose now that there is widespread sports gambling from which MLB benefits. The resolution is, of course, non-binding.

For his part, Rose has applied for forgiveness from the league five times and has been denied each time.

Fox News added that Rose is a 17-time All-Star, hit .303 over his career, and won three World Series. His 4,256 career hits remain an all-time record.

But despite his claims of contrition, he has also admitted that he still gambles on baseball, which has complicated his hopes of seeing the Hall of Fame ban lifted during his lifetime.

Rose last sent a letter to MLB Commissioner Manfred in 2022 to say he is deeply sorry for his actions that resulted in his ban.

“I am writing today for three reasons,” Rose told Manfred. “First, because at my age, I want to be 100% sure that you understand how much I mean it when I say that I’m sorry. Second, to ask for your forgiveness. And third, because I still think every day about what it would mean to be considered for the Hall of Fame.”

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby stated that Hamas doesn’t care about the Palestinian people and if they did, “they’d lay down their arms, they’d step aside, they’d release those hostages,” but they’ve refused hostage release offers. Kirby also stated that there have been too many civilians killed in Gaza and the number of civilian casualties “needs to be zero.”

While discussing the hostages, Kirby said, “I wish I had progress to tell you about this morning. I don’t. There was a very good proposal laid at the feet of Hamas, just a couple of weeks ago, after Bill Burns, our CIA Director, negotiated it in Cairo. They have not taken that proposal up. In fact, they’ve indicated that they won’t. Now, yesterday, they came out and said they would only release the hostages if there was an independent state for the Palestinian people. Look, there’s not going to be an independent Palestinian state with Hamas in control of Gaza, it can’t happen. If they really cared about the Palestinian people, if they really cared about an independent state, they’d lay down their arms, they’d step aside, they’d release those hostages, and let us get on with the business of working with Israel and the Palestinian Authority for a revitalized Palestinian Authority that could actually manage and meets the — meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people.”

Later, Kirby stated that there isn’t any evidence of Israel committing genocide in Gaza, adding, “Now, that said, there has been, and the president talked about this, too many civilian casualties. The number needs to be zero. And there are too many people starving, too many people in need. And so, we’re going to continue to push Israel to do more to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and to try to get a ceasefire in place so that we can get all those hostages out. And then, after six weeks of a ceasefire, try to find an enduring way to end this conflict. The president’s committed to that.”

In fact, we have to get rid of “Minimum Wage”.

Inflation will largely go away with it, as will the ILLEGAL ALIEN PROBLEM since (small) business will no longer feel the need to do stuff under the table.  Jobs for illegals will dry up.
