An Arkansas state senator reacted angrily when committee members tried to shorten debate over a controversial “stand your ground” bill Wednesday night, KARK reported.

Sen. Stephanie Flowers, D-Pine Bluff, raised her voice when other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee successfully limited debate over the controversial issue.

"My son doesn't walk the same path as yours do, so this debate deserves more time," said Flowers, the only black member of the eight-member committee. "When you bring crap like this up, it offends me."

When committee chairman Sen. Alan Clark, R-Lonsdale, told Flowers she was out of order and asked her to stop, Flowers became angrier, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported.
