2024 Arctic sea ice maximum a whopping 14th below average following hottest year since 1850
Posted on March 25, 2024 | Comments Offon 2024 Arctic sea ice maximum a whopping 14th below average following hottest year since 1850

Officially, the maximum winter sea ice extent for 2024 was 15.01 mkm2, reached on 14 March. At an unimpressive “14th lowest” on record, this is astounding news for the winter following the “hottest year on record.” Undeterred, the US government headline writers at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) today went for “Arctic sea ice reaches a below-average maximum.” Note the long-term average (1981-2010) is only 15.65 mkm2 and 15.01 is within 2 standard deviations (see below, screencapped 14 March 2024).

This is what the sea ice maximum extent of 15.01 mkm2 looked like on 14 March this year:

From NOAA’s 17 January 2024 report on the “hottest year on record” [my bold] on global temperatures:

The year 2023 was the warmest year since global records began in 1850 at 1.18°C (2.12°F) above the 20th-century average of 13.9°C (57.0°F). This value is 0.15°C (0.27°F) more than the previous record set in 2016. The 10 warmest years in the 174-year record have all occurred during the last decade (2014–2023). Of note, the year 2005, which was the first year to set a new global temperature record in the 21st century, is now the 12th-warmest year on record. The year 2010, which had surpassed 2005 at the time, now ranks as the 11th-warmest year on record.

Dems, Media Push New Study Linking Climate Change To Inflation, But Economists Aren’t Buying It
Inflation Slowing Down, But Price Of Groceries Remain Higher Than Pre Pandemic Levels

Liberals are touting a new study linking climate change and inflation, but economists say that the real causes are more likely to be massive government interventions in the economy purporting to save the climate.

The study, authored by four European researchers and published in the scientific journal Communications: Earth and Environment on March 21, argues that “temperature increases cause nonlinear, persistent increases in food and headline inflation,” according to its text. While corporate media outlets, climate activists and Democrats have boosted the study’s findings, the forces related to climate change that are likely to drive persistent inflation are massive government taxation, spending and regulation pushed by policymakers to fight climate change, according to economists who spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Climate activists, including Climate Power — which is spending $80 million to support President Joe Biden in 2024 — have touted the study’s findings, while outlets including The Associated Press, ABC News, Axios, The Los Angeles Times and The Hill have also pushed the study since its release. Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee also promoted the study on X, formerly Twitter, stating thats its findings demonstrate another way “that climate change is raising costs for families and threatening our entire economy.”

Wrong, Daily Mail, Climate Change Isn’t Causing a Chocolate Easter Egg Crisis

By
H. Sterling Burnett
March 27, 2024

The Daily Mail posted an alarming Easter themed story saying climate change has caused the price of chocolate Easter eggs to increase. This is false. Chocolate Easter eggs and other chocolate candies have seen prices increase; however, data prove it isn’t due to a shortage of cocoa beans since cocoa production has risen as the Earth has warmed. If climate change isn’t harming cocoa production, it can’t be behind the rising prices.

“With Easter fast approaching, you might have already begun to notice that Easter eggs are more expensive this year,” opens the Daily Mail’s article, titled Chocolate Easter eggs have risen in price by 50% or more in the UK – and scientists say climate change is to blame. “But this isn’t just due to inflation, as scientists say climate change is a key reason your chocolate is costing more.”

“According to researchers from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU), a combination of wet heatwaves and drought have battered this year’s cocoa harvest,” writes the Daily Mail.

Thursday thanks, Pookie! ;D

PS can you tell me how to post images here? I see you and others posting images in your replies all the time, I just don't know the "secret woid"...

You're welcome, as always, Scott!

When you want to post an image, click the leftmost box on the 2nd line above (under the 1st line which has bold, italics, font changes, etc.) which will automatically put some code in your dialog box.

Then put your URL/link for the image in the middle of that code. Your URL has to end in .jpg, .gif or .png. If it's not already that, will have to tell you how to do that.

Senate Democrats Refuse to Oppose Biden’s Flights for Migrants into U.S.

Senate Democrats blocked Republican amendments to a government funding bill that aimed to increase transparency and restrictions around President Biden’s transport of migrants within the U.S.

One amendment would have prevented taxpayer funding for flights of migrants into the country through Biden’s CBP One app, in response to reports of over 320,000 flown into airports in 2023 alone.

“Make no mistake: President Biden has been secretly flying hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from foreign countries into blue-city airports,” Sen. Bill Hagerty said.

Does a ban 10 years out really mean anything? Why not make it 100 years?

I will tell my doctor I will stop eating unhealthy by 2030. Pretty toothless if you ask me.

This is all for show IMO.
