Nelson, Scott spar as Florida Senate race nears hand recount

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson (D) and Gov. Rick Scott (R) sparred on Thursday amid continued uncertainty over the results of their closely watched Senate race, with Nelson insisting that a recount was all but inevitable.
As of Thursday morning, Nelson and Scott were separated by roughly 22,000 votes – about 0.26 percent. In Florida, a machine recount is automatically triggered if the candidates are within 0.5 points of one another, while a hand recount is required if the margin is 0.25 percent or less.
Nelson, who is trailing Scott by an ultra-thin margin, has not conceded the race. As a recount appeared increasingly likely on Wednesday, the three-term Democrat retained Marc Elias, a prominent lawyer who has represented Democrats in a number of election fights, to work for his campaign.
Elias said Thursday that he is confident Nelson will gain votes in a recount – enough to hand him another term in the Senate. He pointed to how drastically Scott’s lead has closed in the two days since Election Day, insisting ongoing canvassing by county election supervisors would play out in Nelsons favor.

I've lived down here since 1991 -- another couple years of Nelson would be par for the course. I would love to see him retired, but I think you are right; a hand count = Nelson.
I'm a lot more concerned that there could a recount between DeSantis and Gillum.
According to the news, ballots are still being tallied in Broward; which could mean that we may have governor Gillum rather than DeSantis. It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Him conceding when he did was plain stupid; or a political stunt.

Fortunately, even in a 60/40 Dem county like Dade or Palm Beach, it would require a bit over 100K new votes to generate a 22K Dem spread. Nelson didn't win alot of counties either, so spreading it around won't do much to hide the obvious fraud.

Urgent! There has been a recount triggered for the Governor's race. If you voted with a provisional ballot, you have until 5pm local time to produce necessary documentation to your local SOE. Call your local SOE and verify what needs to be done.

Sorry to say that I was born and raised in Lauderdale,(Broward).
It wasn't 'infested' with crooks (dems) when I was growing up!

They should be there already. @mrclose is citing things from previous elections that are common knowledge and everyone knew this was going to be a close race. It is dereliction of the highest order.
Now all of this is based off of what I am reading and hearing. It could be the case that the GOP is already on this and in court trying to get and stop to this as we speak and are being smart and quite about it.

It is my understanding that each county has isn't own set of election rules. They must follow state laws, but they still can have their own set of rules.
You would think that since Bush v Gore, FL would have cleaned up its act. Gillum conceding when he did was nothing more than a ploy.
