The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Dr. Monica Wehby (R) in her Senate bid, giving her a potentially large boost in her primary and against Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) this fall.
National Republicans are bullish that Wehby can make Oregon competitive if she wins the GOP nomination. But she has to first dispatch the more conservative Jason Conger (R) in her May 20 primary.
"Dr. Monica Wehby is exactly the kind of leader that small businesses across Oregon need in the US Senate. Dr. Wehby is a listener and a problem solver. She is the type of person who can work through the partisan gridlock that is paralyzing our economy. Her long history in health care reform, and her opposition to the ACA, will be a real asset to all business owners and their employees who are worried about the skyrocketing costs of health insurance," Chamber Political Director Rob Engstrom said in a statement.
The Chamber has spent millions on TV ads supporting establishment Republicans over their Tea Party foes this cycle. If they decide Wehby is a good investment, they could do a lot to boost her chances in the next few weeks by running ads for her.

This is a race to watch. This would be called a pick up if the GOP wins. That is where a rat is replaced with a Republican. It counts as 2 votes in the Senate in most cases. One against the rats and one for the GOP. This is an area that the GOP has had a problem with for the last few elections. We do not have the votes in the Senate to stop Harry Reid and the rats. Ted Cruz would claim that we could stop Dirty Harry if we all just stuck together. If only we lived in utopia.
Ted Cruz could not keep Republicans together during the shutdown and in the end he too voted to end the shutdown...but by that time the damage was done. According to ABC 3 out of 4 Americans disapproved of the GOP after the shutdown.
“I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay? Do I need to say more?” - Harry Reid.
Some conservatives have suggested that the reason the GOP fails to garner a majority of voters is because they are not sufficiently conservative enough. This proud RINO suggests that the voting public is not conservative enough to embrace conservatism wholeheartedly, and respectfully encourages conservatives to couch their commentary in phrases that could be misconstrued as supportive of compromise to make things better, even if it is not a true goal.
This is looking like a wave election of epic proportions, unless the GOP makes voters defend the guy they voted for twice.
