Iran launches unconventional aircraft carrier against US threat
Posted in Maritime Security by Ankur Kundu on Nov 25, 2020 at 07:49.
Tensions between the US and Iran seem to be at an all-time high this year after reports emerged that the US President, Donald Trump had planned to attack Iran's nuclear sites to stop the Persian country's growing nuclear program.
Barely a week after this, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said it launched a heavy warship that is capable of carrying helicopters, drones and missile launchers amid ongoing tensions with the U.S.
Named after slain Iranian Naval commander Abdollah Roudaki, the ship is capable of carrying truck-launched surface-to-surface missiles and anti-aircraft missiles. Photographs released by Iran also show that the ship carries four fast boats, a vessel used routinely by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) to patrol the Strait of Hormuz and its adjacent coastline.

Why this when they could send their entire Army to this country, when Uncle Joe is POTUS, call them refugees, and make them all US citizens? Then wait for arms to be smuggled to them and attack the US from within. :pondering:

Yeah, it's a converted cargo or container ship with weaponry on its deck instead of crates full of rugs and pistachios. Not utterly useless but not very useful. The IJN tried converting merchant-grade ships to light aircraft carriers in WW2. Not very successfully.
