Mike Rowe posted on Facebook today about his visit to Oklahoma:
Quote
... I got a tour of Central Tech, and learned that it is in fact, one of the best trade schools in the country, if not the best. Students come here from seventeen different public schools to get a hands-on experience in dozens of trade jobs. Students who are determined to enhance their high-school education with a skill that will make them instantly employable. Students like Jamison, a gifted welder who will give Rosie the Riveter a run for her money.

Central Tech exists because the industries in Oklahoma that rely on a skilled workforce – oil and gas in particular - didn’t wait for the government to put shop class back in high schools. They simply built a world class destination where the trades are amplified and staffed it with a wide variety of accomplished instructors.

Instructors like Phil, who worked on pipelines for years and decided to help train the next generation in a real-world classroom, for a long list of jobs that can pay upwards of $50 an hour. His students are awesome, eager, and very enthusiastic. They can’t wait to roll their sleeves up and get to work.

And John, who in spite of his salmon sweater, is a bad-ass truck driver with decades of experience on America’s highways. Today, he teaches kids how to drive a big-rig in less than six weeks. Kids who quickly go on to make $70,000 a year, thanks to a national shortage of roughly 50,000 truck drivers.

The success stories at Central Tech are too numerous to mention in a Facebook post, but look for a new television campaign this summer, made possible by OERB, that elevates the skilled trades, and helps me prove once again that opportunity in this country is alive and well - especially in the energy industry, where a long list of critical jobs are waiting to be filled. ...

I'm kind of sorry I don't have any young people under my wing at present to try to guide toward practical, rewarding careers - and I'm really sorry our niece went to law school!

Jews, patriots, and the ignorant among us
By Jeremy B. Kay

The explosion of demonstrations at college campuses has made me fearful for my fellow Jews, but as an American, it has made me red-hot angry.

I’ve been trying to make the distinction between the clearly foreign-born and the growing young followers of this unmistakably organized movement.  Each group carries its own special ignorance, both preferring rhythmic slogans to any facts at all.

The young “skulls full of mush,” as Rush Limbaugh used to call them, seem to now have their brains completely liquefying.  They can’t tell you where “the river” is or “the sea,” nor even where Israel is located.  But they’re sure, with Marxist certainty, that there is a genocide against the Palestinians going on.

Their elders in this entire undertaking supply the intellectual heft, but it is so inaccurate as to be complete nonsense.

This was obvious this week, when we heard the slogan shouted from at least one school, with a sign: “Jews go back to Poland.”

Joe Biden Comes to Town
By Lauri B. Regan

President Biden is attending a fundraiser, hosted by Michael Douglas, Eileen Fischer, and a few other wealthy, liberal elites who live in my town.  The disruption to residents’ lives and local small businesses is intrusive and appalling.

Irvington, New York is a sleepy little river town famous for being home to Washington Irving and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  It is less than two miles long, with one Main Street of businesses and New York State Route 9 running through it, separating the homes on the Hudson River from those located in the hills overlooking the river.

When my husband and I moved here 35 years ago, it was quite a different town.  We chose it for its quiet vibes, scenic views and parks, good schools, proximity to New York City, and friendly and low-key residents, many of whom were “townies” who were raised here and become police officers, volunteer firefighters, coaches for the high school sports teams, and business-owners.

The scenic views and proximity to the city remain.  Otherwise, the once slightly conservative town is now a liberal bastion of hell for those of us who don’t support sanctuary cities, defunding the police, and the antisemitic Black Lives Matter movement.

The Government needs to embrace supply economics and competitive free market capitalism to grow GDP and fight inflation.

The Biden Admin is stacked with anti-capitalists.  They will continue to overregulate, and enforce reduced productivity and stunted efficiency gains as official Federal economic policy.

Their policies will increase costs, constrain GDP, stifle productivity, maim efficiency gains, increase taxes, increase costs of servicing US Debt, increase the cost of borrowing (interest rates), and decrease the value of the dollar relative to other currencies and precious metals (import inflation).
