Michelle Obama‘s surprise appearance was the talk of the Grammys — but her own mother was a little underwhelmed.
While the former FLOTUS scored a standing ovation as she helped open Sunday’s show alongside Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys, a text she’s shared from her mom, Marian Robinson, undoubtedly put her ego in check.
“I guess you were a hit at the Grammys,†Robinson, who quietly lived in the White House during former President Barack Obama‘s two terms, wrote her famous daughter.
She goes on to text that she watched the awards show, then delivers this cutting remark: “Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done?â€
Her daughter evidently wasn’t stung by the remark, joking, “I am a real star … by the way.â€
Robinson’s deadpan response: “Yeah.†...

Meredith Koop, the stylist behind Michelle Obama‘s flawless wardrobe, has a bone to pick with the fashion industry.
“I’m a white woman. I interact with people in fashion of all different races and backgrounds, but I will say that I find the fashion industry to be not diverse,†Koop explained during “NYFW The Talks: Passion Meets Purpose Presented by TRESemmé,†a panel discussion during New York Fashion Week over the weekend. ...
The fashion consultant also revealed that she has turned down projects that aren’t inclusive. “When I get asked to be on a project or to work with a company, I generally look at who else is on that project, who else is involved, what that group of people looks like, and if there’s a styling portion to it, who we are styling. What do all those people look like?†she said.
“I’ve had jobs where I’ve said I don’t want to do that job because it’s just a bunch of white women and I don’t want to style a bunch of white women.†...
