Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) thinks she drives Republicans “crazy†not because of her harebrained plans like the Green New Deal or many instances of blatant hypocrisy but because she is “as powerful as a man.â€
In a Sunday New Yorker magazine profile, David Remnick read Ocasio-Cortez a quote from a Jezebel writer who said that in politics, “women are often either characterized as hideous harpies like Hillary Clinton or pretty idiot whose ‘craziness is bound up with their ex appeal.†Remnick pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez is “firmly in the latter category.â€
“I feel like I predicted it from day one,†Ocasio-Cortez told Remnick. “The idea that a woman can be as powerful as a man is something that our society can’t deal with. But I am as powerful as a man and it drives them crazy.â€

This is all good stuff. I've seen it dozens of times in my corporate experience. A rookie gets promoted too far and too fast. They inevitably self-destruct somehow. Their ego gives them a sense of infallibility and invincibility. They will always go a bridge too far, and nosedive. I've seen it over and over and over.
Whatever happened to that mean-spirited, arrogant, anti-gun high school kid? He got himself disappeared. He was another young kid who did not understand humility and respect, for anything or anyone. And now he is gone.
There is a reason that the Bible and countless self-help success books push and emphasize 'humility' above all other behaviors. This is because arrogance and hubris are dangerous and fleeting attributes. To be respected, one must show respect to others, no matter who or what you are. This is a lesson lost on youth. And AOC is as young as it gets in terms of Congress.

What she says makes sense in context. In Latino culture, men are expected to be strong and dominant. She had a choice here to say, I am a strong powerful woman (true to an extent). Or to say, I am as strong as a man (penis envy, complementary to men).
When a child says, I am as strong as Daddy! When Daddy says, I am as strong as a bear! They are both pointing to things that they respect and aspire to. AOC apparently admires men, and maybe wants to be one?
