A gay student group at Duquesne University fears that a proposed Chick-fil-A outpost could jeopardize the school’s safe spaces.
“Chick-fil-A has a questionable history on civil rights and human rights,” Lambda executive board members Niko Martini told The Duke (the university’s student newspaper).

Martini asked student government leaders to pass a resolution urging the school to reconsider Chick-fil-A as a dining option for students at the Pennsylvania Catholic school.
“I think it’s imperative the university chooses to do business with organizations that coincide with the university’s mission and expectations they give students regarding diversity and inclusion,” Martini went on to tell the newspaper.
So far, the student government association has not passed a resolution one way or the other. And with good reason.
A university spokesperson told the newspaper they picked Chick-fil-A at the request of the student body.

This is a Catholic university and it has a gay student group calling the shots (or trying to).

Yer at a Catholic school, you muppet. If you are that fussed over an organisation's civil rights and human rights record, you should leave. The Church hasn't always been the worlds best on those.

I'm curious as to just what Chick-fil--A's civil rights and human rights record entails. To my knowledge, the only thing between the company and these LGBTQRSTUV types is that the founder's son went on a Christian radio station and expressed his view that homosexuality is a sin. To my knowledge, CFA has never discriminated against anyone in its hiring of employees and its service to the public.
You would think these dummies would have learned their lesson from their unsuccessful boycott of Chick-fil-A a few years ago. But I guess these kids go to college to get stupid.

That's pretty much all it is - though I recall it as being the founder who said homosexuality is a sin during an interview. Maybe it was the son though. Can't remember and can't be bothered to look it up. It's enough for the perpetually outraged idiots. Never mind that Chick Fil A (I do hate the name) is a decent company, paying very good wages in an industry that doesn't tend to, and that you are guaranteed at least one full day off a week regardless.

You are correct. There were no civil rights violations at Chick-fil-A. Just an owner who maintained personal Biblical views on morality.
And that's a no no in the ignorant leftist college community.

I don't eat much fast food anymore, but if I'm in the mood, I'll stop by CFA. The food is decent for fast food and the employees know what "customer service" means.

There's no better fast food than CFA and its delicious chicken sandwich. My only beef with them is I can't eat there on Sundays! :laugh:

No surprise at all. I had a friend who was an associate (not sure thats the right term). She explained it as a lay person who assists the nuns. She was very active and communicated frequently with priests and nuns.
I stopped associating with her because:
1. She said the Bible wasn't really the Word of God. It was a bunch of stories.
2. Supported abortion
3. Supported gay marriage
4. Around Easter I made a comment about Jesus dying for us. She said Jesus never died and that he was never separated from God during those days following his crucifixion.
I don't know much about the Catholic Church but I don't see how anyone can call themselves a follower of Christ and support the above.

I admire the family for taking their faith so seriously that they will forego any profits to be made by CFA being open on Sundays to honor God and keep the Sabbath.
Yet, the company doesn't preach that as the reason. The CFA at my local mall used to put out a sign, something to the effect that the restaurant is closed on Sundays so that the employees can spend time with their families. I've noticed that the company also cites closing on Sunday as a selling point when recruiting new employees.

I used to be Catholic. These days the church has gone off the rails with everyone having their own ideas, none of which are based on God's teachings. Having a liberal socialist Pope doesn't help.

A sad commentary on the state of Catholic higher ed, in my opinion. Two family members have graduated from Duquesne (we're not Catholic, but it was close and affordable).

Duquesne has a decent law school, although I know Ivy Leaguers and grads of other more prominent law schools look down their noses at Duquesne grads. I still keep in touch with the University's President. We worked for the same law firm years ago. He's very well versed in constitutional law.
My doctor teaches at Duquesne's School of Pharmacology. When I was in the hospital some years ago, he brought his students with him on rounds.
Duquesne has always been a good school. It's unfortunate that it's now infected with political correctness, so-called diversity and all the other nonsense.
