Media discovers: Presidenting in a pandemic is unexpectedly difficult

Neither CNN nor Politico are incorrect in that approach, but the timing of their epiphanies is certainly … curious. For instance, after a full year of assigning personal responsibility for every COVID-19 development to Donald Trump, Politico suddenly discovered that presidents don’t have total control of pandemic management three weeks into Joe Biden’s term:

President Joe Biden’s presidency hinges in large part on his success in handling the pandemic. But nearly a month into power, he’s beginning to discover just how much of that task is out of his control.

LOL! Whether Biden continues with Trump's approach of letting those closest to the distribution resources decide how to deploy them or imposes an umbrella of semi-ignorant Federal bureaucrats, ultimately local people will determine by their actions the efficiency or inefficiency of distribution. Biden populated his Covid Task Force with pretty much the worst possible people for managing a distribution process.

What Biden should do is detect and take care of bottlenecks and obstacles where Federal action could provide solutions. But that isn't Federal control and wouldn't enter Joe's or Kammy's or Dems' minds.
