Ivanka Trump used private email account to discuss official White House business

White House senior adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump used a private email account with a domain that she and her husband Jared Kushner shared to communicate with White House aides, Cabinet officials, and others about official business, according to a report Monday.
Trump used the account to send hundreds of emails and often broke federal records rules for a significant portion of 2017, a White House review of her correspondence revealed, the Washington Post reports.
Trump and Kushner established personal emails in December 2016 with a domain of “ijkfamily.com†through a Microsoft system, which stores the emails. She used the account to share information on government policies and official business less than 100 times, usually in response to administration officials who contacted her first via the personal email address.
She also sent hundreds of emails concerning her official work schedule and travel details to herself and personal assistants, potentially violating federal records rules.
The revelation caught some advisers to President Trump off guard, and were similarly surprised when Ivanka Trump said she was unaware of some of the specifics of the rules. After she informed White House lawyers of this issue, the White House found that Ivanka Trump had not been getting information from the White House about using private emails.

According to Ivanka's attorney and ethics counsel, Abbe Lowell, Ivanka did use her personal email address during the transition period before she was made aware of the rules.
But here's the difference between Hillary and Ivanka:
Ivanka has never served in public office before so she had no idea about the legal ramifications of what she was doing. Hillary has served in many, many government capacities. She knew full well what she was doing.
Ivanka's emails never contained classified information. They were almost always about her family's scheduling. Hillary's emails contained classified information that she knew was classified. How could she miss the giant "CLASSIFIED" word at the top of the document?
Ivanka never deleted any of her emails. She handed them over so they could be archived with other White House documents. Hillary's team deleted over 30,000 emails when Congress launched an investigation into the matter.
Ivanka's team admitted she used the email before she knew what the rules were. They took ownership. Hillary's team denied what happened. Then when that failed, they pointed the finger at others.

In a statement to Fox News, Peter Mirijanian, the spokesperson for Trump's ethics lawyer Abbe Lowell, dismissed any comparisons to the Hillary Clinton email scandal that engulfed the 2016 presidential campaign.
"To address misinformation being peddled about Ms. Trump’s personal email, she did not create a private server in her house or office, there was never classified information transmitted, the account was never transferred or housed at Trump Organization, no emails were ever deleted, and the emails have been retained in the official account in conformity with records preservation laws and rules," Mirijanian said.
He added: "When concerns were raised in the press 14 months ago, Ms. Trump reviewed and verified her email use with White House Counsel and explained the issue to congressional leaders." Mirijanian told the Post that Trump had used a personal account prior to being briefed on ethics rules.

I changed the subject from Ivanka? Not really. I think it's hilarious that they're basically claiming that Ivanka is too stupid to know that she shouldn't be using private emails. She did push all that commie pinko crap during daddy's acceptance, so probably she is.

If you're going to reapond to comments you should make at least a minimal attempt to understand what that comment is saying. Nowhere did I disagree with what you said above, or that this is a rehash or the reasons it's being rehashed. I made a comment about one or two sentences within one of the subsequent articles that @Right_in_Virginia added on about the article, making Ivanka look like an idiot and y'all are losing your shit over it. If you disagree that the suggestion that Ivanka just didn't know any better makes her look stupid I'm okay with that. But considering that "Lock her up" was a pretty major campaign trail promise that Daddy made, I think it's a skoosh far fetched for anyone to believe that Ivanka wasn't aware of the issues of using private email for gov't business.

By forgetting that not only Caesar's wife, but Caesar's daughter must be above suspicion, she handed her father's opposition a giant talking point. The Washington Post, the community newspaper of The Swamp, got the scoop from some of its many sources in the federal bureaucracy:

Washington (CNN)Ivanka Trump's use of a private email account will soon face new scrutiny on Capitol Hill, with a key House committee planning to probe whether President Donald Trump's daughter and senior adviser violated the law when conducting government business.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee plans to revive efforts in the new Congress to look into the White House's use of private emails amid reports that Ivanka Trump used her personal account through much of 2017 to trade messages with Cabinet officials, White House aides and other government employees.
The likely incoming Democratic chairman of the committee, Elijah Cummings of Maryland, plans to renew efforts to look into private emails next year after the Republican-controlled panel dropped its investigation into the matter when a separate controversy arose last year, according to a Cummings aide.

Giant media 'gotcha' over Ivanka Trump using personal email account for government business

It's hard to understand why Ivanka Trump, who heard crowds at her father's rallies chant "Lock her up!" over Hillary Clinton's email abuses, would not be punctilious over discussing government business in a personal email account. By forgetting that not only Caesar's wife, but Caesar's daughter must be above suspicion, she handed her father's opposition a giant talking point. The Washington Post, the community newspaper of The Swamp, got the scoop from some of its many sources in the federal bureaucracy:
Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules, according to people familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence.
White House ethics officials learned of Trump's repeated use of personal email when reviewing emails gathered last fall by five Cabinet agencies to respond to a public records lawsuit. That review revealed that throughout much of 2017, she often discussed or relayed official White House business using a private email account with a domain that she shares with her husband, Jared Kushner.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) came out in defense of Ivanka Trump on Tuesday, saying that her reported use of a personal email account while in the White House is nothing like Hillary Clinton's use of a private server while secretary of State.
"There are over 30,000 BleachBit reasons why the Hillary Clinton email scandal isn't even close to the Ivanka email issue," Meadows, the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, tweeted.
On Tuesday, Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said they were planning to investigate whether Trump's use of the private account violated federal law.
A spokesperson for Trump's attorney, Peter Mirijanian, told the Post that she "sometimes used her personal account, almost always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family."
"Ms. Trump did not create a private server in her house or office, no classified information was ever included, the account was never transferred at Trump Organization, and no emails were ever deleted," he added.
Mirijanian also said that Trump's emails have been forwarded to her official government account in order to comply with the federal records law.

Good grief.... the spin here is amazing at times. About the only thing you said that I believe is that Trump was gullible in the beginning, Try beginning, middle and currently as is the electorate that voted him in office. How in the world we got to a Hillary vs Trump election final is baffling. The two most unqualified candidates, it still amazes me. Perhaps Trump sees his daughter in a more favorable light than we do. He's not the first President to drag relatives into the mix.
For you to insist that Trump has not been a good and effective President befuddles me because it is irrefutable that he has been.
But clinging to hate is a specialty of some people around here. It is not good for you.

The stupidity of insisting that someone must "hate" a person or thing if they criticize it, is enormous. But clinging to stupidity is a specialty of some people around here. It is not good for you.

leaving her SoS post, donations have fallen to about 10% of what they were then she was SoS. Can
you say "pay to play"?

You won't find many pillars of virtue in the real estate business. And I am sure Trump did his share of wheeling/dealing.
Or the Banking business. Or the energy business. Or the defense-aerospace business. Ot the ag business. Orthe auto business. Ort the insurance business. Or the medical business.
Big businesses need to "work" with government. Or fail.
But we havve plenty of eperience with people going from one political (government) office, to another.

The Clinton crime syndicate is the top of the corruption ladder in D.C.. I have no faith that the DOJ will do anything about it at this point. That ship has sailed and it was Trump that gave that ship the tow out to sea.
