The majority of the states are places that get really really cold in the winter.  And we all know how efficient EV's are in freezing temps.  So bless their virtue signaling stupid ass hearts.

As an undergrad my Poly-Sci prof offered extra credit if we joined the local Dem party and campaigned for Dan Walker on his run for a second term as Il Gov. in 1976.  Walker lost in the rat primary to Mayor Daley's hand picked puppet, Mike Howlett.  In a surprising turn...Howlett lost the general election to Republican Jim Thompson. Jimmy was Illinois's longest-serving governor, having been elected to four consecutive terms and holding the office for 14 years. As a bonus, he never had to have his mug shot taken because he was indicted for a crime.

Moral of the story was. Never trust a democrat. The ratbastard Prof never followed tru with his promise of extra credit.

TBR Kitchen / Good, low cost meals
« Last post by unite for individuality on Today at 08:56:13 pm »
Here are some meals that can be prepared at relatively low cost, and are tasty and satisfying.

Rice based meals - Rice is a major food staple around the world.  It is the main ingredient in many kinds of meals.

Prepare the rice like normal - in boiling water.  When you strain out the rice, save the water, and use it to make tea or soup.  The water contains many nutrients that washed off the surface of the rice during cooking.  Add other ingredients to make the rice into a satisfying meal.  Ingredients such as chunky soup (Campbell's, Progresso, etc.), beef stew, etc.

Chicken - Chicken is the least expensive meat.  Leg quarters are usually the least expensive (and tastiest!) part of the chicken.  They can be bought at low cost frozen, or fresh (Walmart usually has them for about 69 cents a pound, at this writing).  Boil the leg quarters for one hour in a big pot of water.  This will make them so tender that the meat actually does fall off the bone!  You can dice the meat into small pieces, and add them to rice dishes.

Pork - Pork is often available at low cost, especially before Christmas and Easter.  Check the packaging.  It might be pre-cooked and ready to eat.  It's best to not cook it again.  That only destroys the tenderness.  If the pork is not cooked, boil it in a big pot of water for an hour, just like chicken.  Fried pork often comes out very tough.  Boiled pork is always at least fairly tender.  You can cut it across the muscle fibers to enhance the tenderness.  Diced pork can also be added to rice dishes.

Hot dogs and bologna - Prices can vary widely between brands, and from one week to the next.  Flavor can also vary between brands.  Hot dogs dipped in barbecue sauce can be very tasty.

Potatoes - Potatoes provide plenty of calories per dollar.  It's best to not peel potatoes.  Most of the nutrition is in the first millimeter under the skin.  You can buy devices at the grocery store that you shove down onto the potato with both hands, to easily cut the potato into slices, sticks, or wedges.  They can then be deep fried, pan fried, or baked in the oven.

Eggs - One way to prepare eggs is to crack them open over a big pot of boiling water.  Then, when the eggs are cooked, ladle them out with a strainer.  If you cook eggs this way, you can cook a dozen or two dozen or three dozen all in one session, and then have plenty of egg on hand that is ready to eat.  You can also add pieces of cooked egg to rice or potato dishes.

Pasta or noodles can be inexpensive, if you look for it on sale, or buy store brands.  Rice and potatoes are healthier.  Spaghetti sauce can vary widely in price.  Pasta sauce can often be found at about the half of the price of the cheapest salsa.

Store brand tortilla chips are usually much less expensive than name brand chips.  Tortilla chips are made from corn and tend to cost less than potato chips.

Popcorn is one of the least expensive snack foods.  Pieces getting stuck in your teeth can be annoying.

With the cost of food skyrocketing, these meals can help keep everyone fed without going broke.  I'm sure there are many more possibilities.  Comments are open!

@Smokin Joe

Has there ever been a time in recent history when Haiti WASN'T "a mess"? It was a bleephole when I was in the Dominican Republic in 66,or so. Mule and horse-drawn carts were the normal means of transportation, along with  those little Vespa 2 stroke 3 wheel whateverthehellthey  are.

And that was all considered to be normal.

Then again,so was VooDoo,which SEEMED to be the the national religion.
Well Papa Doc came into power in '57, so for all practical purposes, Haiti has been a hot mess for my lifetime. I was still in diapers when he started in. For its proximity to the first world, Haiti seems to be determined to be a third world craphole.

f'n insanity. This is the city folks imposing their Klimate Kult stupidity on people who live out in the sticks. One big winter blackout and maybe they'd think again. or not.

I have to remember that half (or more) of the population are below average intelligence, and that common sense is found in less than 10% of the population.

Nine states plan to ban gas-powered car sales by 2035
Advanced Clean Cars II rules look to phase out sales of new gas-powered cars in next decade

By Stephen Sorace FOXBusiness

Nine states are planning to ban new gasoline-powered vehicle sales by 2035 as part of an initiative to cut climate-warming emissions.

The Advanced Clean Cars II rules originated in California with the state Air Resources Board. The regulations in California look to phase out the sale of new gas vehicles beginning with the 2026 model year, scaling back over time until 2035 – when a total ban on the sales will go into effect.

Since the rules were first adopted in California in 2022, eight other states have followed suit, with several others considering the plan.

So far, the other states that have implemented the plan to hit the goal of selling zero new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 include Washington, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Delaware and Maryland.

Biden’s Gaza pier is a dangerous, illogical election-year gimmick
By
Sen. Roger Wicker
March 28, 2024 9:44 am

For the next month and a half, a small group of Army logistics vessels will inch across the Atlantic, traveling at a third of the speed of a Navy warship. Then, according to the Biden administration, soldiers will take two months to build a floating pier to deliver food and aid to Gaza. All told, relief may not meet needy hands for months — barring any delays.

One would be hard-pressed to find a more dangerous and illogical election-year gimmick from our commander in chief.

A casual glance at this “emergency mission” prompts several questions, each of which has an unsatisfying answer. They all clearly indicate that the person best served by this mission is not the American citizen, the U.S. service member, the Palestinian civilian, or the Israeli soldier, but President Joe Biden, candidate for reelection.

I am demanding answers for this waste of tax dollars and military readiness capability.

Last week, I led my Republican Senate Armed Services Committee colleagues in an official request to the commander in chief, asking for a baseline explanation of this looming disaster. We note that the project seems to have been announced without the Biden administration doing any planning. In fact, the president shared the news in a made-for-TV moment during the State of the Union. I am told that as senior Department of Defense officials watched, they wondered how their teams would implement this prime-time directive.

Hard Times for the Professional Never Trump Losers
Kurt Schlichter

These are hard times for the professional Never Trumpers. Donald Trump is winning this election, they’re not getting the attention they used to, and inflation has made pool boy rates simply outrageous. Those poll numbers showing Trump leading across the country have to be understood as a total repudiation of these jerks, because they are. There are a lot of reasons to want to see Trump win, but in the Top Five is seeing these goofs cry.

Now, the professional Never Trumpers are not the same as the Republicans and conservatives who just don’t want to vote for Donald Trump. There’s a difference between people who conclude that they don’t want to support Donald Trump and people for whom it’s not only a lifestyle but a job. There are also a lot of people who still have hard feelings over the primary campaign because it was somewhat acrimonious – though historically, it was more like a pillow fight than an apocalypse in the Octagon. I liked Ron DeSantis and still like Ron DeSantis, but I was always going to support the nominee our voters chose. As someone who was taken more grief from the weirdos, losers, and mutations on the fringe of Trump World than any of the people currently citing that motley collection of meme-making, psycho halfwits as the reason not to vote for DJT, I got over it. I’m supporting Donald Trump – proudly and without reservation. And they should support Donald Trump, too, because defeating Joe Biden is the most important thing we can do to save our country.

But the professional Donald Trump haters? They never will, and I don’t want their support besides. Do you want Liz Cheney on your side? Wyoming doesn’t even want her, which is the one policy they agreed on with the Virginia Cowgirl. She was always a Beltway creature. I saw a Harry Potter movie once, and it had an unattractive, officious, fascist lady in it who tormented the little kid wizards, and I don’t remember her name, but that’s Liz Cheney. She’s like the EPA guy in “Ghostbusters” without the charm.

Typo in the headline:  The University is not Arizona State University in Tempe, it's University of Arizona, in Tucson.  That said, they are both far-left (U of A has always been furthest to the left).
