Manchin Wanted to Use Opioid Funding on Personal ‘Governor’s Helicopter’
Opioid overdose deaths nearly doubled in West Virginia under Manchin's watch

A decade ago, West Virginia was set to receive millions in a prescription drug settlement from the maker of OxyContin. Then-governor Joe Manchin vowed the funding would help his state win the "drug war once and for all."

Behind the scenes, however, Manchin was trying to secure a personal "Governor's Helicopter" with the funding, at a time when opioid deaths were climbing to the highest rate in the nation.

Manchin's request of $3 million for the helicopter raised a "RED FLAG" from the head of West Virginia's criminal justice programs, according to an internal memo obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.  ...   More at Free Beacon (https://freebeacon.com/politics/manchin-wanted-use-opioid-funding-personal-governors-helicopter/)

Meanwhile, Joe's negative ads against Republican opponent Patrick Morrisey claim Pat is in the pocket of "big pharma" and therefore to blame for the opioid crisis.  *****rollingeyes*****

Another ethics complaint

Joe Manchin’s shady financial dealings have prompted another ethics complaint for failing to disclose his assets on his personal financial disclosures.

This time, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) alleges that Manchin broke Senate ethics rules by failing to disclose his ownership of Country Roads Marine LLC, which lists Senator Manchin and his wife as members and officers in WV Department of State filings. The LLC is listed as the owner of the 65-foot yacht Manchin lives on when he’s in DC.

This is the second complaint against Manchin this year for his failure to disclose his assets. FACT previously asked for an investigation after it was revealed that Manchin did not disclose his investment in several hotels that were the subject of multiple lawsuits for failing to pay creditors and taxes. Given Manchin’s penchant for skirting disclosure rules, what else is he hiding?

Isn't Joe's daughter tied into some drug company that got kick backs thanks to his helping hands?

Yes. She's the CEO of Mylan Laboratories, maker of EpiPen. She raised the price two- or threefold, then Manchin's wife - who at the time was on the state education board - made sure every school district had to buy EpiPens.

Manchin also ensured that his daughter was given an MBA degree from WVU, even though she never did the coursework.

What's the big deal? The precedent was set long ago when all that tobacco settlement money went into State coffers (allegedly to offset the health care costs of smoking) and was pissed away in virtually every imaginable way--except to offset the additional medical costs that smokers were to incur. (Instead, we got Obamacare, which cost many their insurance.)
