Graham urges Trump to consider bipartisan COVID-19 relief package
By Joseph Choi - 10/07/20 11:52 AM EDT

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday appealed to President Trump and his fellow senators to pass more coronavirus relief legislation on Wednesday, the day after Trump called off bipartisan talks on another round of aid.

Graham, one of Trump's most vocal defenders on Capitol Hill, called for the president to "look at the House Problem-Solvers bipartisan $1.5 trillion stimulus relief package" as a good place to start.

"Time to come together to help America deal with COVID as we move toward a vaccine," he tweeted.

Republicans frustrated by Trump's messages on COVID-19 aid

House Republicans are expressing frustration over President Trump’s order on Tuesday that aides end negotiations with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on a coronavirus stimulus package, a move that some worry will hurt them in the 2020 elections.

The president's decision to pull out of negotiations, which was not broadly supported by House Republicans, flipped the narrative the GOP has been hitting Democrats with — that Pelosi was blocking the deal. Instead, multiple GOP lawmakers described the tweet as a “disaster” that served as a self-inflicted wound ahead of Election Day.

“I disagree with the President,” Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.) said in a statement. “With lives at stake, we cannot afford to stop negotiations on a relief package.”

It seems possible that Trump is getting the message. In late-night tweets after he said the talks should end, the president appeared to reverse course, at least to a degree.

This is why its impossible for the president to do anything about the deficit.

Even before COVID hit, when we had the lowest unemployment and arguably the strongest economy we've had in decades, we were still projected to have a trillion dollar deficit.  Neither President Trump or the GOP Senate had any plans to do anything about the deficit.

Graham should STFU...according to news today, Pelosi's 'DEAL' included the right for mail-in ballots received up to TEN DAYS AFTER the Election be counted.

POTUS told her to stuff it.  Send me a clean deal for just the checks and I'll sign it today.
