Trump's 2024 dreams destroyed by Capitol attack, say advisers
by Rob Crilly, White House Correspondent |
| January 09, 2021 06:30 AM
President Trump’s exit strategy was clear: Cast doubt on the election result before retiring to his Florida estate to embark on a new chapter as Republican power broker and media star while teasing a triumphant return to office in 2024.
But the violent attack on the United States Capitol and Trump’s role in denying Joe Biden’s election victory have destroyed his chances of running for president again, according to Trumpworld insiders.
The ugly scenes have already had an impact on fundraising. The Trump campaign has not issued an email appeal for cash since 1 p.m. on Wednesday, shortly before the president’s supporters battered their way inside the Capitol building.
“2024 was always a long shot. Now, he’s toast,†said a former campaign adviser.

FIGHT ON !!

Sounds like they planned the whole thing out with the intent of destroying his 2024 chances. The Dems are certainly afraid of Donald Trump.

Somebody's afraid of him, for sure. They are going to extraordinary lengths to try to get rid of him.

It'd be nice, but let's face it: how is that message going to be disseminated when all the methods of communication are controlled by the left?

I am not proposing a strategy that requires Democratic consent. Trumpsters are screaming at their natural allies. I am proposing that folks divorce the man from the movement as the best way to save it.

Exactly.
As far as saner leadership? Last time I checked our SANE President stood for American exceptionalism, American values, American pride, American's first and Keeping America Great. Anyone that sees that as insane, quite frankly has a screw or two loose.
-

You just don't get it at all. Trump isn't the movement the PEOPLE are the movement! President Trump is/was the voice of the people. He stood up against the RINO and Democrat scum and revealed the DC cesspool.
President Trump was never the problem, the DC swamp, the corrupt DOJ, the deception and the game of smoke and mirrors on both sides of the aisle have been and still are the problem!
For crying out loud I was never an avid Trump supporter, but I am standing up for what right he has done. You have to be dumb or blind or both not to see what has happened.

You are thinking logically - build on the good and make it bigger and better. That is Republicanism.

I am not standing against the right he has done, @libertybele . I am realistic enough to realize the man is toast. Whether his movement will survive will require some sort of reconciliation among Republicans.
-

I get that... but let's face it: so much of the movement IS the man that I'm not sure that's possible.
A candidate running on the MAGA agenda would still need to be insanely rich and famous, like Trump, to gain the kind of traction Trump did—and wealth and fame are not exactly correlated with sanity. Trump won because 1) the base honestly believed that a guy they recognized as rich, famous and powerful actually cared about the issues they've been begging about for years but every politician in power has ignored or discounted; and 2) everyone they don't like or trust hates him, so he can't be all that bad, right?
-

I don't ever recall Trump saying anything about running in 2024. He'll be 78 for heavens sake and he doesn't need the headaches. Trump ever running in 2024 I think is wishful thinking by some of his supporters, nothing more. Also -- read again what I stated -- the movement is the PEOPLE not Trump.
The GOP is dead. Thinking that somehow that we'll be voting for any GOP politician and that they would get seated is a dream. It's not going to happen. I will NEVER vote for a Republican anyways.
I could care less about the Republicans. I care above Conservatism and above all we need to figure out how to save this country.

How generous for you to give blanche check approval, of Biden. One of the best announcements of a fools endeavors i ever heard. You advice of Trump seems to always pretend you have no ulterior motives. You motives always lean towards hate Trump, and Trump should do what is worst for him. Obviously you are far more transparent than you realize. Trump can make great decisions, doing the opposite of whatever your advice is.
-
I never believed he was interested in 2024. Fake news?
-
I am proposing that folks divorce the man from the movement as the best way to save it.
I am proposing that people stop telling lies about Trump and address the election fraud instead.
-
I am proposing that people stop telling lies about Trump and address the election fraud instead.
Imagine if they would set aside their Trump hate long enough to get on board with the election fraud stuff. We might generate enough heat to finally address the long-standing rat tradition of voter fraud every election. Who knows, we might even end up with voter ID.
-
I am not standing against the right he has done, @libertybele . I am realistic enough to realize the man is toast. Whether his movement will survive will require some sort of reconciliation among Republicans.
You should accept this one fact: In 2024 the conservative candidate for President will either be Donald Trump, or it will be someone he has endorsed to run on the issues he has championed. If he does not run, my guess is that he will act strongly in support of a man like Ted Cruz...but that's just a guess. Anyone who has been a NeverTrumper, Lincoln Republican or who has close ties to the Bush/Romney wing need not apply. I don't know if President Trump will choose to run in 2024, though I suspect he will.
-
I never believed he was interested in 2024. Fake news?
Nah, I think he is. Remember, he once tweeted this:
Error 404 (Not Found)!!1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9xHPnSi1sI#)
-
Imagine if they would set aside their Trump hate long enough to get on board with the election fraud stuff.
Sadly, they are all on board with the election fraud since it helped get rid of Trump, which to them is more important than beating the Democrats.
-
I've supported Trump during this ordeal, but hopefully he will take a nice retirement, and let a younger voice with a similar message carry the banner.
-
I get that... but let's face it: so much of the movement IS the man that I'm not sure that's possible.

:bingo: pointing-up
This is also why I am laughing at Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley beclowning themselves trying to jockey for position to grab the torch of the movement. There is no "next in line" because there is no one else on the planet who can pull off being Trump other than Trump.
-
Trump's 2024 dreams destroyed by Capitol attack, say advisers[/quote
You would think out of a whole crowd of "advisors" that SOME of them would have names, wouldn't you?
If there is anyone on TBR that voted for Trump in 2020 who would refuse to ever vote for him again, would you please identify yourself?
I have been voting in Presidential elections since the early 60's,and the only Presidential candidate I can think of that would rate up there with Trump when it comes to "Would you vote for him again?" would be Barry Goldwater.
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,if cloning ever becomes possible,PLEASE put Barry Goldwater at the top of the list!

The more this election and aftermath play out the more I agree with you @Hoodat Whoever pulled off this theft did a damn good job of planning, organization, implementation, coordination -- since at least 2018. We can be sure the leaders weren't Joe Biden or Kamala Harris...or even Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer or Barack Obama. To their credit, the actual puppeteers have done an even better job of protecting their identities.
But Donald Trump, I strongly suspect, knows who has just stolen our country. In a matter of days he will be unleashed from an AG and Republican caucus misadvising him, a pandemic, a reelection. All the puppeteers know for certain is Donald Trump, with or without Twitter, is not going quietly into the dark night -- and he's taking tens of millions of Americans with him. He must be neutralized, completely neutralized.
I truly fear for his safety and freedom.

Who will be willing to do it? Really? You make it sound like it's a done deal. Until proven otherwise, right now it's still Trump. Maybe DeSantis, I have high hopes for him, but we shall see what he does. Outside of that, I don't see anyone on the horizon.

But turnout always goes up in presidential elections on both sides.
-
The thing that doomed Perdue and Loeffler is that they stayed silent on the sidelines while all this fraud and law violations were being uncovered. It was their abandonment of Trump that cost them, not Trump's support of them.
-
That's it, a Mitt/Jeb! ticket.
:2barf:
I think Bushy suffered to much humiliation to ever run again.
As far as Mittens, he'd be stupid enough to run again and probably with Ryan. Lyin' Ryan has been in the news lately.

IMO they lost in part because they never tried to make the sale - why we're better off with divided government to check extremism. Instead that message was drowned out by Trump's folly, and as for their own messaging, it was was almost 100% negative. Newt recently put out a quality piece on the mistakes the GOP made in Georgia. In short, this was an avoidable catastrophe.
-
Perdue with Trump on the ticket: 2,462,217
Perdue without Trump on the ticket with Trump and his surrogates telling people not to vote because the election is rigged: 2,211,865
There, fixed that for your.

Got a quote on that? Any quote where anyone specifically instructed Georgians not to vote.
Didn't think so. Same old lies keep getting told in here.

What would Noot know about Georgia? He's been living inside the Beltway since 1979.
In short, this was an avoidable catastrophe.
Of course it was avoidable. If Georgia election laws had simply been followed, there wouldn't have been a runoff.

I'm seeing these memes involving Pelosi's son with Hunter Biden floating around.
It would make sense that Nancy want's him gone yesterday.
They're also afraid of what Pres. Trump might declassify. It would definitely give him the 'last laugh', designed to send many high profile people scurrying.
Why else this insane frenzy to destroy the man's public persona...ignoring 75+ million voters in the process?
...with less than two weeks until Inauguration Day??

I am pretty sure that is a given, but IMHO,he will resign for (mental) health issues within 6 months of being sworn in. The Dims are counting on President Harris to pull in the non-white vote in 2024.

The whole news makes no sense.
The question is no longer whether Trump has a chance or not. The question is: is a truly patriotic and conservative president allowed in the United States? And the answer is: no.
The fraud was evident and as I saw a supporter of Trump saying, "all the institutions that were supposed to protect the American people have betrayed the people... the Congress, the press, the Justice, the Supreme Court, the VP. They all betrayed the people.
It was not the Democrats and the press who betrayed the people, the whole establishment, they all denied Trump his second term. The Democrats only operated the fraud, but the whole elite was complicit, especially the Supreme Court. The fraud was gigantic in the swing states with abundant evidence, that is, the American people were brazenly robbed.
It doesn't matter if the people vote for it or not, it doesn't matter if it has 90 million votes in the future. The machines will show something else. America has become a leftist banana republic and will soon become a communist dictatorship. Faster than any stolen voter who peacefully accepted the biggest electoral fraud in the history of the planet, it can wait.
Meanwhile, China is bringing its tentacles even closer to American politicians. Oops.... doesn't even need to, the next American president is already a "friend of China".
Sad...

Yes, let's think about it. 4 years of Dem controlled media blaming every problem they can’t hide on Trump. No counter because they have a lock on both social and traditional media.

Trump's political career was over before the Capitol Hill event.
When the entire system opposes you, the people who are fickle are quick to abandon you when you are no longer in power.
The day of the Capitol Hill event, Trump made a speech that rambled on for 1.5 hours. That speech is one of the worst I have ever read, and yes, I read the entire thing. Four years of being POTUS, and he never understood the concept of being presidential. Had that speech been scripted, it would have last 15 minutes. Beyond that, he was losing the interest of the listeners, even the folks that stood by him.
His speech that day is the worst speech I have ever read. I was left with overwhelming sadness when I read it. He ranted about everyone and everything that betrayed him, not a speech of a strong man by any means. His advisors are not worth a good BM!!!

Beware of getting on the band wagon of such, its end of trail is ghastly and eternal.

Trump's strengths are he loves the country, his America First policy, his integrity in sticking as much as humanly possible to the promises he made during the campaign, his ability to fight back, and his private sector focus (deregulation).
His weaknesses are poor impulse control, a fragile ego - overly and constantly concerned about how others perceive him - a naivete about how jaded and cunning the Democrats are (he's figured that out now, for sure), an inability to think strategically, and an inability to attract, retain, and support quality staff. I love the man for the sacrifices he has made for this country, but like everyone, he has flaws. And in his case, these flaws were played by his opposition to the detriment of our country.
Going forward, we need to take his America First philosophy and continue to push forward with it with eyes open and prepared for Dem dirty tricks and with a leader with less baggage. We need to be ruthless in our war with the Dems and their allies.
-
A leader with less baggage that Trump? Like Biden ? How about slick willy, Obama or even ho chi Minh, or Stalin or Mao??? maybe even Putin? Everything the deep State pulls is Trumps fault and all the wrong the deep State and their followers have done is Trumps fault. Does that make democrat political whores super saints and super virgins, or even saviors? End Times of the ultra deceived is here. The Pied Piper marches humanity to the gates of hell, and they gladly so. E N JO Y ! dO NOT BE DENIED !

Winston Churchill lost his 1945 election in part because he made a speech before the election, accusing Labour of imposing Socialism using "Gestapo" tactics.
People were furious, that Churchill would associate Labour with the Gestapo, so soon after the war, even many Tories denounced him.
Fast forward five years, and Winnie was right back at 10 Downing Street.

True, and he lost that election even though the people respected his leadership during the war. Trump rebuilt the economy, brought unemployment to record lows - and didn't get a whole lot of thanks for that, either, did he?

They are busy erasing his economic accomplishments. They'll show the stats after the Rona hit,but never mention the boom right up until that point.

If Biden and the Dems bleep up bad enough, which from the looks of this week they look like they will, people may forget about how bad Trump bleep up last week.

As has been mentioned before, stepping off the cliff this election, is a one way free fall. It takes a fool to think there is a easy road going back. Want to reverse Communism, that takes a gun, and knowing that they seriously want Commie-Nazi like gun control. Watch how shocked the fools are when it becomes a reality here. I didn't vote for that, the fool shouts. :smokin:
The phony engineered capital attack was successful in destroying Trump from running in 2024. Either Trump was an idiot, which he was not, or those that benefited from the attack were behind it and are busy pushing their, manipulate fools buttons. Of course manipulated fools are full of denial they ever did such a thing later.

I'm on an email list at work with others who have an interest in firearms. It's the one place at my employer that is a "safe space" for conservatives to speak. Even so, probably half of the members are leftists, and probably more than that voted for Biden. They are going to be some unhappy campers when Biden bans all semi-auto rifles.

The Dems are certainly afraid of Donald Trump.

Beyond laughable, as Trump was their fave punching bag;
the core reason the left now controls the Congress & WH!!!
