Judge warns of possible move of trial in George Floyd death
By STEVE KARNOWSKI
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota judge on Monday warned that he’s likely to move the trials of four former police officers charged in George Floyd’s death out of Minneapolis if public officials, attorneys and family members don’t stop speaking out about the case.
Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill stopped short of issuing a gag order against attorneys on both sides, but he said he likely will if public statements continue that make it hard to find an impartial jury. Cahill said that would also make him likely to grant a change-of-venue motion if one is filed, as he anticipates.

And he doesn't want the death threats, media second guessing everything, or the inevitable (guilty or not guilty) riots that will come after the trial. :judge:

If the judge really takes pre-trial publicity seriously, to what planet would the trial be moved? The defendants have been systematically vilified in "news" and "entertainment" worldwide, for weeks.

Planet? To what galaxy? The whole world "seems" to be mourning Floyd. You'd think he was a Supreme Leader of Earth the way they've carried on.

"Ya THINK, DiNozzo?" :silly:

No kidding. Good luck trying to get these guys a fair trial.

Maybe there's an Inuit village in Canuckia's far north Nunavut Territory or some Lapplanders who have never seen news about the George Floyd killing. Or maybe an isolated Amazonian or Papuan tribe ... Antarctic penguins?
