Title: Houston overtakes Dallas as top market for new home sales

The Houston market surpassed Dallas as the top market for new home sales in June, a new HomesUSA.com report showed. The margin was thin: 24 homes.

New home sales for Houston in June hit a record 1,388 based on a 12-month rolling average, HomesUSA.com said. The company compiles a monthly index based on data from the Houston Association of Realtors and other multiple listing services in Texas. The local sales are up from 12-month rolling average of 1,379 in May.

The Dallas-Fort Worth market, which had been the state's top market since December 2017, saw 1,364 sold homes in June.
