Democrat MJ Hegar, an Air Force veteran, launched her campaign against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) Tuesday morning.
The former helicopter pilot is the first Democrat to join the race against Cornyn, but others are still considering running in the primary. Democrats believe Texas could be competitive in 2020 after former Rep. Beto O'Rourke lost narrowly to GOP Sen. Ted Cruz last year.
Hegar, who lost a House race in a Republican district in 2018, released a video launching her campaign. The video highlights similar themes as her viral launch video last year, which helped her raise more than $5 million for her failed bid against GOP Rep. John Carter.
Her new Senate ad features celebrity tweet endorsements, footage of O'Rourke from his Senate campaign, and Hegar explaining her personal history as helicopter pilot, including being shot down while fighting the Taliban.

Caveat - he is solid on right to life.

worse for me is he is part of the GOP leadership.
Used to be a solid conservative, but he must have attended too many parties in DC and now must be smoozing with the good-old-boy crowd.

If they are against each other, I think I would stay with Cornyn.

Sadly,I think they are right. I am no big fan of Cruze even though he sometimes says things I like to hear. There is just something undefined about him I don't trust.
Putting that aside,he has the "right kind" of last name as well as the right kind of track history to keep winning in Texas for as long as he wants to run in normal times,but these ain't normal times. The left has imported enough illegal alien voters to vote Dim to defeat him,and they neither know nor care anything about his political history or his Spanish name. What THEY care about are the promises of the Dims of "more free stuff and invited your relatives if you vote Dim."

I would love to hear more about that. Was she shot down because she was an Affirmative Action pilot lacking in the skills and knowlege she needed to be flying missions into combat,or was she really hanging it out there on the edge and taking chances to rescue US troops?
After all,I still remember Hillary "dodging sniper fire" at Kosovo airport,and know the left has an agenda,and there are plenty of leftists in uniform with command ranks.

I think I'd support Perry over Cornyn. Perry is not my favorite, but he was a close relatives employer and a heck of a nice guy.

She's a Democrat, and accordingly, will never receive my vote. She's all for women on the front lines, and has said nothing about border security.
