Germany’s Alfred Wegener Institute Shows January Arctic Sea Ice Now 20 Years Stable!
By P Gosselin on 27. March 2024

Winter sea ice in Arctic stable over past 20 years…has even recovered somewhat.
Hat-tip: Klimanachrichten

Arctic sea ice extent as recorded by Germany’s Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany, looks at the situation in January 2024. Despite the record temperatures reported, the ice in the Arctic has recovered somewhat.

The slight recovery trend since the Arctic minimum was reached is continuing at the beginning of 2024, with the sea ice extent at the beginning of the year below the average value for the years 1981 – 2010, but in the lower range of the extreme values (minimum / maximum) of this international climate normal period (Figure 1).

If we look at the new reference period 1991 – 2020 introduced by the World Meteorological Organization in 2021, January 2024 is roughly in line with the mean value of this period (see interactive graphic). The average Arctic sea ice extent in January was 13.99 million square kilometers, around 400,000 square kilometers greater than the ice cover in January over the last 20 years (Figure 2). During the month, the extent increased by approximately 29,000 square kilometers per day, which was slower than the average increase from 1981 to 2010.”

Here’s A Better Way For Billionaires To Give Their Money
4 hours ago Guest Blogger 8 Comments

By Wallace Manheimer

Many of your fellow billionaires contribute large sums to “cure” a nonexistent climate crisis, falsely naming it an “existential threat.” They wrongly claim that wind and solar can support modern civilization. For instance, Michael Bloomberg has proudly committed $500 million to eliminate coal. Jeffery Bezos has committed $10 billion to a variety of climate causes and “clean energy” efforts. These billions dwarf resources available to small groups fighting, for instance, degradation of their land by gigantic wind companies.

Furthermore, these philanthropists direct many dollars into foolishness like Critical Race Theory and a fabricated division of the world into oppressors and the oppressed. In addition to unnecessary climate panic, college campuses harbor harmful notions of “gender fluidity” and dangerous divisiveness among students that manifest as rampant antisemitism and hostility toward the deplorables du jour.

You know this is wrong but, despite your wealth, may feel powerless to stem the societal degradation. You make your own large contributions to hospitals, museums, medical schools, etc. Of course, that is very commendable. Still, you may be looking for other avenues for your generosity – perhaps actions that could not only help people but also challenge the promotion of negative forces. Well, we have a few suggestions.

NYPD sergeants’ union warns anti-police NY pols to stay away from slain cop Jonathan Diller’s funeral — including Council Speaker Adams, Public Advocate Williams
Story by Larry Celona, Craig McCarthy, Olivia Land • 20h

We lost Jonathan tonight.

NYPD cop, 31, fatally shot by career criminal during Queens traffic stop ID’d as husband, dad of young child

Anti-cop politicians should stay away from the funeral of slain NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, the Sergeants Benevolent Association warned Wednesday — specifically calling out City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Public Advocate Jumaanee Williams.

“Adrienne Adams, Jumaanee Williams and their cohorts should stay home. They detest cops and have no appreciation for what they do. They should stay home and not pretend they are grieving. They have caused enough heartbreak and destruction,” SBA President Vincent Vallelong told The Post.

His comments echoed a scathing letter sent by the union, which represents sergeants of the NYPD, slamming anti-police council members for posting “hollow” and “untrue” statements of sympathy about 31-year-old Diller’s killing — and saying that they, too, were not wanted at the funeral Saturday.

The Electric Vehicle Bubble Didn’t Just Burst, It Exploded

As governments and environmentalists champion electric vehicles (EVs) as the saviors of the planet, recent revelations suggest that the reality might be far from the green dream promised. The fervor for EVs, often heralded as a solution to climate change, might be misguided and even detrimental in some cases. Let’s delve into the complexities and contradictions surrounding the EV phenomenon.

Former US Submarine Captain Sounds Alarm Over China's Deep Sea Miners
Story by Aadil Brar • 21h

A former U.S. submariner has raised the alarm over China's deep-sea mining activity geared towards militarizing the ocean.

The concerns come as Beijing increasingly defines the rules of engagement on the high seas as a signatory of the United Nations' Law of the Sea treaty. To date, 168 countries in total have ratified the treaty, thereby ensuring their stake in the potentially lucrative extraction of trillions of dollars worth of minerals from the ocean floor, according to CBS.

However, the United States stands as a notable outlier, having not ratified the treaty due to opposition from a contingent of Republican Senators who argue that it would compromise American sovereignty and power.

"If you're going to find submarines in the ocean, you need to know what the bottom looks like. You need to know what the temperature is. You need to know what the salinity is. If China is using civilian vessels to sort of on the sly do those surveys, then that improves, could improve, their ability to find U.S. and Allied submarines over time as they better understand that undersea environment," Tom Shugart, former U.S. submariner and an Adjunct Senior Fellow at Center for a New American Security told CBS weekly show 60 Minutes.

I doubt the ports will stay closed that long.  But the bridge will probably take longer that 5 years, hamstrung the whole way by the worst the three-letter agencies will dish out.  The Environmental Impact paperwork will only be the beginning of bureaucratic SNAFUs.

Key Bridge rebuild may take four years or more, bridge expert says

It would be interesting to follow the panels and see where and how they are disposed of.

@Smokin Joe

You're right. I'll call the local stations tomorrow and see if they're watching.
