Convicted felon cries before answering juror questionnaire: 'I shouldn't be here'
By Kyle Schnitzer

A convicted felon who did hard time for a drug bust cried before answering the juror questionnaire as she tried getting out of jury duty.

“It was over 10 years ago and you guys keep calling me back for jury and I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t be here,” the prospective panelist, who lives on the Upper East Side, said.

Justice Merchan had a brief conference with the juror before she then read thorough her responses.

When asked what she does for work, she said she works at a general manager at a famous gym.

“I used to be a dental hygienist but I can’t do that legally anymore," she deadpanned.

Prospective juror works with Michael Cohen's son, dad is buds with Chris Christie
By Kyle Schnitzer

Juror No. B588 said Michael Cohen's son works at her company — and her father is lifelong friends with former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

"Michael Cohen's son works at my company," she said, but added that she's never worked with him.

She said knowing that her father is close buds with Christie wouldn't impact her ability to be fair on the panel.

She also stopped listening to the New York Times' podcast "The Daily" because it became too depressing.

“I used to listen to 'The Daily' but it’s too depressing so I stopped,” she said, drawing laughs from inside the overflow room.

Senators push VA to fix problems with vets’ toxic exposure claims
By Leo Shane III
 Tuesday, Apr 16

A group of Senate Democrats is imploring Veterans Affairs officials to fix how they handle constrictive bronchiolitis and hypertension claims under new toxic exposure benefits legislation, saying that too many veterans are left without help due to confusing department rules.

In a letter to VA Secretary Denis McDonough on Monday, 18 senators — led by Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Jon Tester, D-Mont. — said the issues need to be addressed quickly to ensure that thousands of veterans receive the compensation they deserve.

“Veterans have waited decades for benefits and recognitions for health conditions related to their toxic exposure,” the group wrote. “Outdated VA regulations should not deny them earned benefits.”

Next Generation Squad Weapon and optic exceed soldiers’ expectations
By Todd South
 Apr 17, 02:34 PM

The first soldiers to field the Army’s newest rifle and automatic rifle began live-fire training with the weapons this week, including demonstrations on how the new round can penetrate barriers to strike targets.

Soldiers with the 1st Brigade, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division received a batch of XM7 rifles and XM250 automatic rifles and their XM157 fire controls in late March.

The XM7 is the Army’s replacement for the M4 while the XM250 will replace the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon. Both new weapons are chambered in 6.8mm, a larger and more powerful round than the legacy 5.56mm round used in the M4 and M249.

The soldiers conducted classroom training last week and began firing the weapons in demonstrations on Monday, Col. Trevor Voelkel, 1st Brigade commander, told Army Times in a phone interview.

This doesn't surprise me in the least.  In fact, I'd say they need to investigate for sabotage.  This keeps the admin from having to choose sides.

Navy ship underway for Gaza pier mission suffers fire, returns to US
By Geoff Ziezulewicz
 Apr 18, 02:43 PM

One of the Navy’s Military Sealift Command ships slated to take part in building a humanitarian aid pier off the Gaza Strip suffered a mishap last week and had to return to Florida, even as the Pentagon’s target date for getting the pier operational nears.

The cargo ship 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo suffered a fire in its engine room Thursday while on its way to the Mediterranean Sea and returned under its own power on one engine to Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday, the Navy said in a statement.

“The crew evacuated the area and used portable extinguishers to put out the fire,” the Navy said. “All ship’s crew and military personnel are accounted for, and no injuries were reported.”

An investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing, and a defense official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operations said the Navy is in the midst of assessing whether Bobo can carry out the mission, or if another ship will be tapped for the task.

Israel doesn't need our approval, you arrogant putz.

Exactly. Can you imagine an attack of nearly 300 drones/missiles/rockets launched from 3 countries targeting civilians inside the US?
