President Trump threatened to cut federal emergency funding for California’s firefighters in the middle of a partial government shutdown.
On Wednesday morning, Trump complained that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sends billions of dollars to California to fight fires that are the result of poor forest management.

“Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forrest [sic] fires that, with proper Forrest [sic] Management, would never happen. Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!†Trump tweeted.

Probably autocorrect, due to his odd propensity to capitalize points of emphasis. It was predictably mocked on Twitter, with people calling him Forrest Trump. One of the more clever retorts was....

By that standard, shouldn't he cut federal government funding? 97% of the fires were on federally managed land, with maintenance responsibility under the Department of Interior- an executive level department. If they failed to properly manage it, they should get their funding cut by this standard.

You should know that maintaining forests was severely impacted by a false sentiment created by environmentalists (wacky ones) who lobbied against forest management.
I'm glad Trump is addressing this issue. Someone needed to and no one has until Trump.

Pelosi can spin all she want but Trump is right on this. Proper forest management would prevent these out of control wildfires and prevent people being killed.
I've been fanatic on this issue ever since my son and his wife experienced too close an encounter with wildfires in Colorado.
We know how to make forests safer against wildfires. It is a sin and a crime not to do it.
Once again, Trump addresses an issue that's been ignored by our leaders for years.
Hurray for him.
