Maybe Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will have to be satisfied being merely green with envy. The most visible House Democrat on climate change won’t get a seat on Nancy Pelosi’s select committee addressing the issue. The Hill reports that Pelosi appointed three other frosh Democrats to the panel, which makes the snub even more obvious:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday named eight Democrats to the new special climate change committee, but Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) was not among them.

After Democrats won the House majority in November, Ocasio-Cortez emerged as an outspoken advocate for combating climate change and pushed for the select committee to be focused on formulating a Green New Deal that would move the country toward 100 percent renewable electricity over the next 10 years.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi excluded Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the New York Democratic freshman who has made curbing climate change her number-one cause, from a special climate committee whose members were announced Thursday.
Pelosi said that Ocasio-Cortez declined a spot on the panel.
Pelosi, D-Calif., announced the appointments on the day Ocasio-Cortez unveiled her “Green New Deal†initiative aimed at ending the use of fossil fuels in America in the coming decades. The "Green New Deal" would transform the U.S. economy through a massive mobilization of resources by the government in order not just to reduce carbon emissions but also to alleviate income and wealth inequality.
Pelosi named Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla., to chair the panel as well as eight other Democrats.
“This new Select Committee will spearhead Democrats’ work to develop innovative, effective solutions to prevent and reverse the climate crisis,†Pelosi said in a statement. “It will generate the energy and action required to permanently reduce pollution so that we can honor our responsibility to be good stewards of the planet for future generations.â€
Ocasio-Cortez had called for the creation of a special panel to develop comprehensive legislation to address climate change. The panel, though, does not include the legislative and other powers that Ocasio-Cortez and other progressives sought.
Earlier this year, Pelosi appointed Ocasio-Cortez to the Financial Services and Government Reform and Oversight Committees. When Ocasio-Cortez arrived in D.C. after winning the November election, she took the unusual step of joining climate activists demonstrating in Pelosi's congressional office.

The infighting among the democrats will only get worse.
Nancy is probably furious that the New Girl is getting all the love and Nancy is just savvy enough to realize that she has to save the democrats from going completely crazy or they'll never win another election.
They are almost completely crazy now. They cannot find a suitable candidate to advance for 2020. The new kids like Bezo and Booker are already out of favor. The really old guys like Biden are already a laughingstock for their kiddie love.
If they expect to win on a platform of baby killing and socialism, they have really lost touch with America.

There is no way a bunch of old hippie liberal, entitled boomers are going to let a kid on their committees. Boomers have been playing the spoiled entitled game from before even when her parents were born. It is their party. She should take her generation and split from that party before the old person smell rubs off on them.

Pelosi is dumb as a box of rocks, but like most Dems she has good gutter political instincts. She knows this is a bust.
Draining that much private money to the govt a year (and that's only theoretical) to the renewables industry wouldn't give the results the greenuts want.
There simply isn't enough places where wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal are practical can be built to provide even a decent fraction of the gigawatt load of usage we have now.

This doesn’t surprise me.
Pelosi knows that Dems could lose the House just as quickly as they won it. She was SOTH after the 2006 election and lost that position 4 years later and I’m sure she is aware of that

Most of the Democrats in D.C. have been in office since the 1800s. They are not going to let some pretty young rich girl come in and upset their grip on things.
AOC is not Legally Blond, but she might as well be, by the way she is perceived by the 80 year olds in D.C. who run the place. AOC is almost 1/4 the age of the people she is challenging.
And Ruth Bader Ginsburg is still dead.

Sick of hearing about AOC. The most dangerous Democommie is Adam Schiff. That sh*thead will cause nothng but trouble over the next two years, and I believe do more to damage the Dems. He is such a tool.
