Move over Uncle Joe, there's a new kid in town. This is the DEM's golden boy; their modern day JFK. God help us.
Two things; #1 I am hoping that the RNC is getting their act together and putting into play a system where they can greatly combat all the corruption and fraud that the DEMS will likely try. #2 I am hoping that the Trump campaign increases their ground game and recruits some new voters; otherwise, I don't see a win in his future.
Beto O'Rourke ready to 'push the button' on presidential campaign, source says
Former US Rep. Beto O'Rourke is ready to "push the button" to launch his presidential campaign, with the announcement expected to first come on social media, a source familiar with his plans told CNN.
Aware that the 2020 Democratic primary is quickly taking shape, O'Rourke is set to announce his candidacy this week, rather than launching an exploratory committee.
O'Rourke is in his hometown of El Paso, Texas, this week ahead of his first trip to Iowa on Saturday. On Monday, in a short video recorded outside his house, he wore a University of Northern Iowa cap as he urged students at the school to vote in the Democratic candidate in a state Senate special election.
A photographer was seen leaving O'Rourke's house late Tuesday morning, and a close team of aides who worked on his 2018 Senate had gathered in town.
Signs that an announcement is imminent had popped up on social media, as well. On Facebook, O'Rourke's page -- which had not paid for any advertisement since his failed bid to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz had ended -- began promoting more than 300 ads urging people to sign up to be the first to know whether he will run for president.

The RNC needs to get their hands on that video of (real)Hispanic women cursing him out when he was on the city council in El Paso and he and his billionaire FIL plotted to take the property of the poor to develop. It was priceless. He sat there with his chin propped up looking like an idiot. I wonder if that's the night he got the DUI.
They also need to dig up the article that told about his stint as a nanny for a wealthy family after he got his degree and his band broke up. His father had to go to NYC to bring Robert Francis out of his funk. He does that a lot, getting into a funk.
The skate-boarding fool has accomplished nothing in his life. Daddy's no longer around to give him pep talks.
Given his herky-jerky twitchy movements, and nonsensical rhetoric, the nation may find this maroon hard to watch, as I do.

IMHO, he came dangerously close to beating Cruz. A clear indication that the demographics in this country have changed. I think either he or Castro will get the nomination. Both will appeal to the younger generation and Castro especially to the Hispanic community.
So ... what is Trump doing to attract new and/or younger voters?? Anyone?? Unless he can drum up some more voters, I don't see him winning in 2020.
-
bele wrote:

I don't think they'll get the top spot.
But both will definitely be in-the-running for #2 on the ticket.
The folks here who tried to write O'Rourke off after he came this close to beating Ted Cruz... well... they're talkin' through their hats!

I guess the half a million illegal votes got him close.

That's just it. Unless the GOP/RNC gets their act together and implements 'systems' to combat the DEMS fraud and corruption, the DEMS will steal elections. They were almost successful in FL during the past mid terms. Keep in mind also with taxes rising in blue states, residents are moving to red states where the cost of living is more affordable. That also changes the demographics BIGLY!

O'Rourke to announce White House run Thursday morning: report
By John Bowden - 03/13/19 07:58 PM EDT
Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) will reportedly announce a 2020 White House bid on Thursday.
The ex-congressman confirmed his plans to enter the race officially in a text message to El Paso NBC affiliate KTSM, which reported that O'Rourke will make his official announcement Thursday morning.
News of his definitive plans to run follow a Vanity Fair profile of O'Rourke published Wednesday in which he strongly hinted at a desire to pursue a presidential run.
“You can probably tell that I want to run,†he told Vanity Fair. “I do. I think I’d be good at it.â€
This breaking news report will be updated.

Vanity Fair has a barf-inducing puff piece on Robert Francis- the man fresh off his self-indulgent navel-gazing vision quest. He's never accomplished a single thing in his life.

He's confirmed he's running (https://www.ktsm.com/news/politics/beto-o-rourke-is-running-for-president-in-2020-ktsm-confirms/1846804405).
Keep in mind he said repeatedly he wasn't going to run. *****rollingeyes*****

I look at O'Rourke and I see a dumb ass.. He is one creepy looking fuk
-
Just posted on FB from the local paper. Certainly looks like he's running:
Former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke will be visiting Lee County on Thursday. The potential Democratic candidate for President will start his day at the Lost Canvas, 719 Main St. in Keokuk from 8-9 a.m. for a meet and greet. O'Rourke will then travel to Fort Madison where he will meet with school officials in a private event before stopping at Sub Arena, 2805 Ave. L, from 11:10 a.m. to about 11:45 or noon. O'Rourke ran for U.S. Senate for Texas in the last election and narrowly was defeated by Sen. Ted Cruz.

Ugh, that video. I can't stand it when people use hand gestures in time with what they're saying. Someone on Twitter suggested, in light of all the movement, he should have stopped taking the Ritalin when he reached adulthood.
-
He look like he's twitchy from drug abuse, past, present or both. Difficult to watch.

I haven't been watching his spews. Sounds like he has "Hannity's Waving." I hate that too, and I always switch the channel after Tucker.
-
If I were a leading democrat candidate I would be worried about this. Bobby O’Rourke has got a great record – arrest record that is: DUI; leaving the scene; securities fraud; campaign violations; running under an assumed ethnicity ...the perfect Democrat presidential candidate.
The guy married money – he’s an empty suit; though I’m not sure he owns a suit. Make that, the guy’s an empty shirt.

You're right, Trump is not going to win in 2020. And the reason is similar to why Beto came so close to defeating Cruz. For better or for worse, Cruz is a polarizing figure. Gov. Abbott won re-election easily, thereby disproving the notion that the problem is "demographics". Polarizing candidates inspire the opposition to get out their votes by appealing to fear, bigotry, tribalism and caricature.

His wife looks like the typical ugly left wing nut job from Austin. Sadly, there's 200,000 clones in Austin just like her.

Good point! We should run Mittzy again, he's not polarizing. That Trump is "polarizing" might be how he got elected (over Kasich, even) in the first place.

And just think.... those are the things we know about. Much like with Obama, I'm betting that there is much more below the surface that has yet to be revealed about Twitchy Beto's real record.
Just saw Trump ask "Is he crazy" re: those hand movements...lololol. Nah. Not crazy. Just Democrat. Oh wait...
-
Robert Francis says he was "born to do this." Then why he did leave his family for a month and traveling around the country approaching strangers to ask it he should run?
I wonder if the rich people he nannied for after he graduated college think he's "born to do this."

I just saw the tail end of that. So he was talking about Beta Male when he said that? LOL! I wonder what the President's TBR handle is....

Only for the reason of Trump / Pecker/ Stone 2016 Primary Slime job. You'd be surprised how many here in Texas bought off on the Orange Goon's "Lyin' Ted" meme.

This article is a must-read. With his trespassing, DUI, trying to take the property of poor Hispanics to enrich himself and his FIL in El Paso, insider trading while a freshman in Congress, and campaign finance violations of taking illegal foreign money while running in Texas, and being the beneficiary of illegal voting, coupled with his depression and lack of accomplishments, he should be laughed off the political stage. But he's not.

Trump won because Hillary was such an awful alternative. If the Dems had nominated just about anyone else, they'd now occupy the White House.

Unfortunately many of the refugees from $hithole blue states come to Texas and try to make it like the hell they fled.
We have one success in reversing that trend.
Fauxcohontus was here long enough to get a law degree, fake her ancestry when applying to the Bar, and teach at Texas prior to moving on to where she felt more comfortable in Massachusetts.
Now I want Beto to follow Liz's lead, and skateboard his way to some place that likes him a lot, maybe California.
-
You seem pretty sure of that. :2popcorn:
You bet. Think of all the folks on this board who held their noses to vote for Trump because the alternative was worse.

If the RL manages to melt down the economy between now and then.... it will all be moot. It worked in 2008 for them. And.... inundating the border with hundreds of thousands (or millions) of illegals might just do the trick for em this time.

From the NYT article:
"A young Beto O’Rourke. In New York, he felt unfulfilled by jobs as a nanny on the Upper West Side, at his uncle’s tech business, moving fine art and in publishing."
The only thing mentioned in Robert Francis' bio is the tech job. The implication was that he was involved in some great tech company when he in fact worked for his uncle and failed at that, as he failed at everything in NYC.
-
I guess Gringo O'Rourke didn't take the hint from his loss to Ted Cruz.

Robert Francis's mother had a furniture store that was investigated by the IRS for some unusual cash transactions. Laundering money? So Bobby comes by his corruption "honestly."
-
Trump won because Hillary was such an awful alternative. If the Dems had nominated just about anyone else, they'd now occupy the White House.
Except for the fact that he won the GOP nomination. He won over a true conservative, moderates and DEMS The DEMS were just foolish and arrogant enough to buy into believing that Hillary was unbeatable. IMHO, Anyone except Kasich or Jeb would have beaten her.

Robby O'Beto O'Rourke, the early years.

-
“I just remember his dad coming,†said the former girlfriend, Sasha Watson, recalling a pep talk from Pat O’Rourke, a prominent Texas county commissioner and judge, who insisted his son was destined for “bigger things.â€
“He really saw great things for Beto.â€
Great things were not happening. By late 1995, Mr. O’Rourke had fallen into the deepest depression he can remember. He worked for an uncle’s tech business because it was a job. He spent nights alone listening to his cassettes because it passed the time." (more from the NYT article.)
Sounds like Robert Francis has long-standing mental health issues.
-
Dumb and lazy even his own family says so:
Mr. O’Rourke’s seven New York years (four at Columbia University and three after graduation) were, in his own telling, often an exercise in recognizing his own averageness. He loved music but came to see he was not talented enough to hit it big. He thought he might pursue publishing but struggled to break in. He was intimidated by the intelligence of his peers.
“He didn’t really have the kind of ambition that a lot of people have in New York,†said Brooks Williams, Mr. O’Rourke’s uncle.
Presidential timber, all right.

Well, that's a fine way to run for President. Bet that their candidate will be even worse than ours.
I want to vote for a candidate I can support. Not the lesser of two evils. If it comes to that, I may have to. But I'll be damned as a GOP primary voter that I'll counsel others to shut up and accept Trump's chaos. Especially when I know darn well that the Dems are praying that we re-nominate the man.

Trump’s administration is no more chaotic than past administrations. That meme is part of the takedown strategy against the president, which apparently you are OK with.
The only actual chaos in Trump world is that which is ginned up by the 92% enemedia and by subversive bureaucrats in the entrenched elite establishment. Fellow travelers? I’ll let others decide.

@aligncare , I live in the world as it is, not as I wish it to be. I despise the mainstream media, in its absolute rejection of objective journalism in favor of incessant propaganda that is obsessed with ousting Trump and boosting the easy socialism of the Dems' new darlings.
But it is all, slowly but surely, having an effect on the electorate. I have concluded, as much I support many of his policies, that Trump will simply be unable to be re-elected. Given that the GOP's opponent is likely to be a socialist (whether avowed or merely a stalking horse), the stakes in 2020 could not be higher. The Dems desperately want Trump to be re-nominated. Only by making the election a referendum on the chaos its media touts 24/7 can they be assured of installing their progressivism. The GOP, in turn, needs to make this election a referendum on the Dems' poisonous brew of bad policy, anti-Americanism and race-baiting.
Trump needs to be replaced as our nominee, as our best and perhaps last shot to head off disaster.
-
I live in the world as it is, not as I wish it to be.
That's the problem: "Go along to get along" is exactly why we continue the slouch towards Gomorrah. If we don't stake out higher ground we will never get there. Cowardliness will never stop the slide.

You misunderstand. Realism means you pick the battles you think you can win. You don't set your opponent up for an easy win. It is easy to reflexively insist that Trump be re-nominated, just to spite his enemies. But that's foolishness if our enemies will have the last laugh.

Understood. You will advocate your position. I will advocate mine. But you sound a bit like "we had to pass the bill to see what's in it". I am advocating a risk-averse position - defend Trump's policies, but with a standard bearer that lacks Trump's considerable baggage.
