Title: If Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal succeeds in 2019 it will be the most radical plan
Post by: austingirl on December 31, 2018, 03:09:16 pm
Incoming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., pledged to voters she would be a far-left outsider who would push her party toward adopting “democratic socialist” policies, including universal health care and free college tuition. So far, she has kept her promise.

Ocasio-Cortez has been calling for the creation of “Green New Deal” legislation, which would eliminate much of the United States’ fossil-fuel consumption. So far, Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.,  and Cory Booker, D-N.J., and 40 House Democrats have said they support the proposal.

Although the broad talking points of the plan have been circulating for months, it wasn’t until recently that Ocasio-Cortez provided any details of her proposal. On December 3, according to The Atlantic, Ocasio-Cortez spoke at a town hall led by Sanders and declared, "This is going to be the New Deal, the Great Society, the moon shot, the civil-rights movement of our generation."

This moronic socialist is dangerous. Her proposal won't go through, but the article offers a chilling peek into our future. 1984 will arrive a few years late.

Among them, Ocasio-Cortez proposes eliminating all fossil-fuel-powered electricity, closing every coal and natural gas power plant in the country, thus destroying the hundreds of thousands of jobs related to these businesses.

Not to mention freezing millions of people to death. Stupid idiot Can't Understand Normal Thinking!
Maybe Chicago can stay warm burning everything in sight.

Note the plan where they want to forcibly "upgrade" all the houses for energy efficiency.

Most older stock houses can't easily be refitted as such. So this will be a convenient way to condemn whole swaths of rural America and force them to move to the cities, to convert all these noncompliant homes to state and national forests.

Fundamental transformation, but on steroids.

Not even homes in town can be run on non-"fossil fuel" generated electricity. I don't care how much insulation is added, most existing construction cannot be refitted sufficiently to be able to handle the power demands just to keep people from freezing to death. Her 'elimination of fossil fuels (oil, coal, natural gas)' not only would eliminate motor travel, but the majority of shipping, so people would of necessity starve, shivering in the dark.
I wont even touch on the effects on manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, even electrical insulation is a material made from petroleum feedstocks... **nononono* Not only is the woman clueless, her voters are, too. That's the REAL scary part.
I'm not sure what planet she is from, but she should be sent back.

Unfortunately, there is a generation of people who have no clue how things work, to whom all this nonsense seems to make sense. THat's how she got elected.

I love her revenue generation plan

"We'll just have the money". Genius. Why is she the first one to notice this?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  Verified account @AOC

Many people ask what a Green New Deal entails.  We are calling for a wartime-level, just economic mobilization plan to get to 100% renewable energy ASAP.

and to promote economic and environmental justice and equality. In furtherance of the foregoing, the Plan shall: (a) be prepared in consultation with experts and leaders from business, labor, state and local governments, tribal nations, academia and broadly representative civil society groups and communities; (b) be driven by the federal government, in collaboration, co-creation and partnership with business, labor, state and local governments, tribal nations, research institutions and civil society groups and communities; (c) be executed in no longer than 10 years from the start of execution of such Plan; (d) provide opportunities for high income work, entrepreneurship and cooperative and public ownership; and (e) additionally, be responsive to, and in accordance with, the goals and guidelines relating to social, economic, racial, regional and gender-based justice and equality set forth in paragraph (6).

Nowhere did I see jack about consulting the people who will be most affected by this economically regressive policymaking. The last thing we need is one size fits all policy on who can use how much energy. Ambient temperature differences of 100 degrees are not uncommon in the continental United States this time of year. People are going to freeze to death with this crap.

You know, I used to think these people were all simply economic illiterates who lacked a basic comprehension of economic organization and of the laws of supply, demand and price.

But after witnessing the events of the past half century or so, I am increasingly convinced that many of these Green Socialists know exactly what they are doing. They know it will fail, but promote it as a means to an end - and that end is power.

Ocasio-Cortez is, perhaps, the exception that proves the rule. She is evidently a shallowly-educated, ideological nitwit who spouts sophomoric slogans as though they were pearls of wisdom. Her kind is a dime-a-dozen, except for the fact that she is now a member of Congress owning to the strikingly narrow political, economic and cultural composition of the district she has been elected to serve.

Which, in turn makes Ms. Socialist-Flavor-of-the-Month a useful means to the ends of others among the professional International Left who know precisely what they are doing, and why.

Exactly. Although some idiots prove more useful than others. Ms. Occasionally-Coherent is highly useful to the Internationale because she is a young woman with a toothy grin, a severe case of verbal incontinence, and that certain, wide-eyed look that many people tend to mistake for innocence, when in reality it denotes blinking incomprehension.

i've seen Uber Academics advance the theory that true Socialism has only failed so far because it canot grow from a rural, agrarian Society (China/Russia) and it must take root in an already prosperous Capitalist economy to work. (Which neatly skirts the issue of Where they're going to Get all that money to redistribute.)

While others yell and howl that Capitalism must be forcibly knocked down/deposed first.

At day's end, what you have are people with NO plan whatever to produce the money to run the Workers Paradise.

Because it's nothing but BS.

What your true Socialist really wants is to loot and riot in the ruins.
