Dem Rep. Khanna: ‘We Don’t Want’ Small Businesses That Can’t Afford $15 Minimum Wage

Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) declared Sunday on CNN’s “Inside Politics†that we should not want “low-wage businesses†when pressed on small businesses who would struggle under a federal mandate to pay employees $15 an hour.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025 would cost 1.4 million Americans their jobs over the next four years.
Anchor Abby Phillip said, “I know that you feel very strongly like many progressives about the minimum wage issue. Right now, at the same time, businesses, both large and small, are struggling in this pandemic economy, more than 9 million jobs have been lost in the last year, and they still aren’t back, and the problem is particularly acute in industries like retail and foodservice, which are more likely to pay minimum wage. I think the question that a lot of Republicans are posing and perhaps some moderate Democrats is timing. Is now the right time to increase it to $15? I should say the bill has stages, of course, but immediately it would go up about 30% right now. Is now the right time to do that?â€
Khanna said, “Abby, it’s absolutely the right time to give working Americans a raise. Let’s look at the facts. Amazon raised their wage to $15 nationally, not regionally. They have more jobs today. It didn’t hurt job creation or business. Target followed. They also did it nationally, more jobs.â€

Exactly. Small businesses are too numerous and varied to control and plunder. Khanna just expressed openly what Dem leaders normally speak privately among themselves.

Fascism, the govt. controls labor by requiring workers to be a part of organizations the govt oversees and the govt. controls business through regulations and govt. oversight. The left doesn't want an independent small businesses.
These politicians are not idiots. They are just unamerican.

Also small businesses tend to reject unions...something else the Dems hate.

Small business owners and employees who personally know their employer, while they exist, are a permanent source of opposition to their fascist schemes. (Yes, fascist, even if they call themselves "socialists", they're not going to get rid of wealth concentrations, so long as the plutocrats serve as enforcers for their social and political programs. Whether they know it or not, the model for the Democrat Left is now Mussolini, not Lenin, not Nordic "socialism", not European social democracy -- except to the extent that last has also started imitating Il Duce.)

Add to that the fact that these idiots have never owned or managed a business having to balance product and labor costs while maintaining a customer base and profit. All that people like Rep. Khanna know is that the taxpayer will always have to pay their payroll no matter how incompetent they are.................................as long as they can get enough people dumber than them to keep voting them in.
And her asinine comment about Amazon proves that she doesn't even comprehend what is happening in America today. Are they and AOC related?

It's painful to see that those who pass laws have not even the remote understanding of basic economics.
Of course Amazon can do it. They are a large corporation. It's the small businesses that will get hit. Many of them minority owned

"It’s fair for people to be making what they’re producing. I think $15 is very reasonable in this country"
Notice the words "I think" and "It's fair?"

If we could just get democrats to treat Americans like they do the Chinese, who under democrat favoritism, rose up from the bottom of the barrel in the world market to the top.
