Warren formally launches 2020 campaign, makes no mention of Native American controversy
Fox News, Feb 9, 2019

LAWRENCE, Massachusetts – Vowing to “fight my heart out,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Saturday formally declared her candidacy for president.

The populist Democratic senator, who was re-elected in November to a second term representing Massachusetts, pushed her progressive platform as she told her life story of growing up “on the ragged edge of the middle class” and spotlighted her efforts on behalf of working class Americans.

“This is the fight our lives. The fight to build an America were dreams are possible, an America that works for everyone. I am in that fight all the way. And that is why I stand here today to declare that I am a candidate for president of the United States,” Warren said in this working class city that sits along the Merrimack River in northern Massachusetts.

Warren promised to fight so “that every kid in America can have the same opportunity I had - a fighting chance to build something real.”

Warren spotlighted her upbringing in Oklahoma, saying “when my daddy had a heart attack, my family nearly tumbled over the financial cliff.”

But as expected, she didn’t say a word about her claims of Native American ancestry, which first surfaced during her 2012 victory over then-Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts.

I put her chances at about 1,024:1.

Yawn.

She isn't a serious contender, she won't be a VP contender and I'm pretty sure she won't be in anyone's cabinet.  The best she can hope for is big speaking fees.

People said similar things about Obama in the early days. Elizabeth Warren is up there with Ocasio when it comes to left wing rock star status.

She isn't a serious contender

Who do you think the most serious contenders are when it comes to the left wing?

I think Sanders has some lefty gravitas still, Harris has some appeal, Beto has some appeal (both of them until more is exposed about them), and Biden.

Now, remember, I don't find any of them appealing, appropriate or fit for the job; just answering your question.

Elizabeth was a lot more known than Sanders before he ran for president. She has a lot of name recognition and is almost exactly the same as Sanders politically. The main difference is she's more of a fighter than Bernie. She's got a very aggressive in-your-face style that the left absolutely adores. The people here don't like Warren for obvious reasons, but don't let your bias lead you to underestimate her. She is absolutely a serious contender in 2020. Unless another big name announces a run really soon you can expect her to be Trump's opponent.

Was it announced via Smoke Signals or tomtoms?

Don't rule out Sherrod Brown as a dark horse. Midwestern setting, consistently won elections in a purple state, and sufficiently left-wing enough that the Democrats won't revolt if he's forced upon the party.

I think Warren has ruined her credibility with this whole Native American fiasco. Even on the left, if you read left-wing media, when they talk about Warren, it's always "we don't need her. She's a liability." If they want a deranged lefty firebrand, Kamala Harris can do all that, is getting plenty of free publicity from the media, and she's a genuine POC.

I'll also note that Warren stated a few months ago that she wasn't running and wasn't going to run. She has issues with being a pathological liar... something the Dems are going to have to avoid if they're seriously looking to take any high ground in a fight against Trump.

Sanders still has a huge following in Washington State, by people who want to bankrupt the country.

It was a joke about her American Indian DNA.

Bernie has a pretty strong grip on the non-Wall-Street fund raising industry. Warren and the rest will have a hard time prying much away from him. Hollywood money could make the difference, and 0bama's endorsement, presumably Harris or Booker rather than Warren, will be a big influence there.

The Wall St. money is also an interesting factor - with Clinton they knew her phony rhetoric was just pandering to get votes. I don't think they can be that confident about this cycle's pretend-moderate candidates. And then what do they do when one of the rabid socialists gets the nomination? They won't support Trump directly but how about a Schultz?

Actually, I'd love to see Warren and Bernie debate each other.  Pure comical entertainment.   :pop41:
