At least with Linux, if you don’t like the default GUI, you can always swap in another or even try writing your own.

EV Hell continues: Crash victims might have to be “left to die”, Hertz dumps another 10,000 cars, Tesla sacks whole charging team
EV doom. The collapse of an industry. AI assisted.

Chronicling the collapse of the Big-Government-made EV bubble
In today’s EV obituary column, Elon Musk has dropped a bombshell. Two months after Telsa chargers became the industry standard (which promised to save the other car makers) his profits fell, and he’s fired the entire EV charging team overnight. Hertz, meanwhile, has realized that dumping 20,000 electric cars in January was not enough, and it has to offload another 10,000 electric cars, which now amounts to half its EV fleet. And then comes the news that there might be a secondhand “timebomb” coming at the eight year mark when most EV battery warranties run out and cars will become “impossible to sell”.

As if that’s not enough, this week the fire and rescue experts in NSW are warning in the politest possible way, that they might have to do a “tactical disengagement” of a car accident victim, which means leaving them to die in an EV fire if the battery looks likely to explode. They say that first responders need more training, as if this can be solved with a certificate, but the dark truth is that they’re talking about training the firemen and the truck drivers to recognize when they have to abandon the rescue.

EV crash victims could be left to die in battery fires without training for responders, inquiry told

Offshore wind is more expensive than nuclear.  And unlike nuclear, it kills whales.

City abruptly reverses landmark decision to ban gas hookups: 'We have ceased enforcement'

The city of Berkeley, California, is repealing its landmark ban on natural gas hookups in new buildings, according to the New York Times. The first-of-its-kind ordinance, passed in 2019, is being scrapped after a legal challenge from the California Restaurant Association.

What happened?
The groundbreaking law thrust Berkeley into the national spotlight and inspired over 140 other cities to phase out gas in new homes and buildings, as the Times detailed.

However, those efforts now face an uncertain future amid pushback from the gas industry, restaurants, and builders.

The court battle ended in a settlement last week, with the city halting enforcement of the ordinance and vowing to officially undo the rule.

It would be prudent for Trump to choose someone from a State like Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, or Arizona.

Biden Interior Sec Couldn’t Name A Single Person Who Supports Major Wind Project
by Nick Pope  3 hours ago in Green Energy, News Reading Time: 3 mins read

Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland struggled to answer basic questions about a major wind farm development in Idaho during a Thursday hearing on Capitol Hill. [emphasis, links added]

Republican Idaho Sen. Jim Risch asked Haaland to list the names of people or groups that support the Lava Ridge wind farm development, a major wind project in the southern, central part of the state.

Haaland suggested that there is local support for the project, but she did not name a single entity or individual supporting the project in response to multiple inquiries from Risch.
