Title: Roger Stone knows Trump’s secrets. That’s why he’ll avoid prison.

Roger Stone knows Trump’s secrets. That’s why he’ll avoid prison.

Of course, Stone likely won’t serve his full hitch, because Trump and Barr know that without a pardon Stone will squeal like a rat in a blender, proving that Trump lied to Mueller and about the details of the Trump-Stone-WikiLeaks connections. Stone sure as hell deserves his time in the graybar hotel for reasons of both ordinary and moral justice, and Judge Berman-Jackson has also likely had enough of Stone’s weapons-grade bullshit and may treat the revised DOJ sentencing letter as the political trash it is...…..

Oh, I get you.  No criminal should ever do time.  That wouldn't be fair.  What an argument for anarchy.

So you agree that Andrew McCabe shouldn't be charged with anything. Good to know.

I think all criminals should be charged and serve terms according to their crimes.  Which means the set period for the crime. 7-9 years is what the punishment is.  Andrew McCabe?  Its Trumps DOJ.  I think they are making deals.

No, no, that's the punishment for Trump supporters. What's the punishment for Democrats and other non-Trump supporters?

More BS.  Courts have set punishments.  McCabe is not going to be charged.  Why?  Probably because Trumps DOJ is wheeling and dealing for Stone and Flynn.

Trump was acquitted.

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence for political corruption.  Trump has been talking about pardoning him, saying it was unfair.  I guess Trump doesn't like Democrats to serve their terms either.

7-9 years is about 2X-3X what people who do that crime usually get.  Way out of line.

Trump was acquitted.

That would be an excellent answer, except that wasn't the question.

Really?  What should be the punishment?  What is the normal punishment?

Former Illinois Gov. George Ryan served nearly six years for a 2006 conviction of racketeering, conspiracy, tax fraud and making false statements to the FBI. (Associated Press)

He's not being charged because he is a Democrat, and Democrats never serve any penalty.

Quote
Trump was acquitted.

He never should have been charged, and if he had been a Democrat he wouldn't have been charged.

You can go on pretending that the "Rule of Law" still exists, but it's becoming increasingly obvious that it doesn't. If you're connected to the correct political power structure, or even if you're just rich, you either don't get charged or you get a slap on the wrist. If you're not part of the "It" crowd, you get the book thrown at you.

I'm not saying that's "right". I'm just saying that's the way it is.

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to 28 years in prison for corruption in 2013.

Former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson of Louisiana began serving in 2012 a 13-year sentence for his convictions on corruption charges.

People only get punished if the case goes to trial, for starters.

Hillary was never charged in the missing e mails, classified information on a private server, etc. etc. etc.

But fail to navigate the rhetorical minefields laid by Democrats who WILL prosecute, and get hauled out of your house in your skivvies by a team as well armed (except maybe the M203s) as many in Iraq, in full battle rattle.

I don't mind prosecuting where that is appropriate, but let's get the full measure of that, shall we?
There is no pretense, even, of Democrats being held to account for more serious and egregious criminal activity.

Deshowitz said maybe 2 years.  It was on another thread...

The fact is, you had no idea, so you cheerfully accepted the whacked request of the Mueller lawyers of 9 years.  Nobody get that, unless a rogue prosecutor wants to throw a book at someone because he doesn't like him, or maybe he didn't like a Republican with Richard Nixon tattooed on his back.

People like that just piss corrupt attorneys off, and that's what happened here.

Many of them were, but that's beside the point. If he had been a Democrat, he never would have been charged. Just ask Andrew McCabe.

I have no idea what Stone is...if he committed a crime he should pay with a reasonable sentence...

That's where I am with this, a "reasonable sentence."  And I question if this is a "process crime," created solely for Mueller's prosecutors.  I honestly, at this point, don't know anymore.

I have read 3 or 4 court narratives on his case.  None had any mention of a Change of Venue.  Why didn't he ask if juror political makeup was a concern?

IMHO and that is all it is... Roger Stone is a dirtbag that probable did get caught doing stuff... Now the fact that the investigation was probable crooked, the means they used to get evidence was probable illegal, and that the jury and judge was crooked means the criminal system in the US is just a freaking mess. I wouldn't want to be given a trial within 200 miles of DC.

That said, I really don't know the right outcome, but chicken or egg, if the means to obtain the info against Stone was illegal... he probable should walk (and I hope he falls in a hole big enough to drown him). Did I mention I didn't care for him or his type.

They, Ryan and Blagojevich all were elected officials. That distinction (between them and Stone) may be significant (or not - just making an observation).
