Pelosi says Republicans 'trying to get away with murder' of George Floyd

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asserted in an interview Tuesday that Republicans are "trying to get away with murder, actually -- the murder of George Floyd" -- marking a dramatic escalation in rhetoric as the Democrat-controlled House prepares to pass its police reform package.
Pelosi, D-Calif., speaking to CBS News Radio correspondent Steve Futterman, said Senate Republicans' reform proposals in the wake of Floyd's in-custody death in Minneapolis were "unsalvageable" and won't make "any difference."
Specifically, Pelosi said Democrats want a total ban on chokeholds, which Attorney General William Barr has also suggested he would support. But, Pelosi said, some Republicans are waffling on the issue.
"For something to happen, they're going to have to face the realities of police brutalities, the realities of the need for justice in policing, and the recognition that there's many good people in law enforcement, but not all. And that we have to address those concerns," she said.
"So, when they admit that, and have some suggestions that are worthy of consideration -- but so far they were trying to get away with murder, actually -- the murder of George Floyd," Pelosi continued.

On Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refused to apologize for accusing Republicans of “trying to get away with murder, the murder of George Floyd.†The Senate Republican Communications Center had demanded an apology, but she refused to give one.
Asked whether or not she would apologize for the incendiary accusation, the House speaker said, “Absolutely, positively not.â€

Just speaking hypothetically, but if a politician were to advocate the injury or death of people politically juxtaposed to that politician, then that would be a declaration of war.
That works both ways.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Wednesday doubled down on comparisons she made between the Republicans' proposed legislation reforming police practices and the murder of George Floyd.
She told MSNBC she "absolutely" would not apologize for the comparison made Tuesday and said Sen. Tim Scott's (R., S.C.) legislation would "make no difference."
"Absolutely, positively not," Pelosi said when asked if she would apologize to Republicans for the comparison. "I think you, frankly, in the press have given them far too much credit for a bill that does nothing. They're saying, well you have your bill, they have theirs. Yeah, our bill does something, theirs does nothing."
