President Trump said Saturday he is “waiting for the Democrats†to make a deal with him that would end the eight-day-old government shutdown and fund his border wall.
“I am in the White House waiting for the Democrats to come on over and make a deal on Border Security,†Mr. Trump tweeted. “From what I hear, they are spending so much time on Presidential Harassment that they have little time left for things like stopping crime and our military!â€
The president met with his chief shutdown negotiators Friday night. He had dinner with Vice President Mike Pence, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and presidential adviser Jared Kushner at the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington.
Democrats have not made a counteroffer to the administration’s proposal for border-wall funding on Dec. 22. Most lawmakers are out of town for the holidays.
Democrats will take over the House majority on Thursday, when they’re expected to propose legislation that would end the partial government shutdown without funding the border wall.

I honestly believe those tweets were before Trump actually became aware of the functionality of the three branches of government.
I don't think the trade deal had anything to do with the wall, though I haven't read what the agreement actually states. All that we've been told is that the deal was to arrange for fair trade between the countries rather than free trade benefiting one country over the other.

As I stated in another post, this is nothing but a Trump/GOP horse and pony show! Trump will be a one term president. We will see a DEM seated in the oval office in 2020...bye-bye GOP.
Was this the game from the very beginning? Trump and all the liberals and RINO's ensuring that a conservative didn't win the oval office? Quite possibly indeed. That was my first thought when Trump was running. Though I can't discount some of the good he has done.

I am becoming more disillusioned by the day with this Administration (if that is even possible), realizing he is my ONLY Hope right now is becoming increasingly depressing with each passing week.

The only art of the deal he knew how to make was ones that would benefit him. Why did he wait till the last hour? Seems simple, it was too late.

This really has nothing to do with the accomplishments of this president and everything to do with DEM control and seeking power. At the rate the illegals are pouring over our borders, soon, by sheer numbers it will be impossible for the GOP to obtain enough votes to win a seat in Congress or the WH. That's been the game plan for quite awhile. Those that vote DEM are dependent on the 'system', they are used to 'free' and not having to work. Those coming across the border receive 'perks' and will vote accordingly. Yes, illegals vote. Yes, when the DEMS get the majority in both Houses and take the WH, you will see amnesty and it will become mathematically impossible for the GOP to win future seats. LBJ's Great Society was to ensure the DEM vote.

Hello... It's been about saving this country for quite some time...that's nothing new...some of us have been working towards that goal for quite some time. Some of us tried to enlighten others about the overwhelming cost of illegal immigration on our society, by actually going out and speaking among people at different groups and attending various rallies and clubs, prayer vigils, etc., and trying to get others on board. We were met with ridicule, violence, disbelief, apathy and considered racists among other things. The reality is this problem should have been nipped in the bud then instead of over a decade later when the problem is out of control and yes, nearing some type of civil uprising.
I'm not being negative, rather I'm giving a dose of reality. The liberal leftist believe the way of the DEM party and the illegals pouring over our borders have been told that all they have to do is come here and they will be given a free ride and all will vote accordingly. As we have witnessed in the recent midterms, the integrity of our electoral process is questionable. The DEMS will stop at nothing to ensure control even if it means promoting violence among their voting base and paying mobs in caravans to make their way into our country. It's all about ensuring that they have the majority votes eventually giving them a one party system and eventual global dominance.
The second dose of reality is that WE the people have allowed our politicians to play the blame game and have not held them responsible nor accountable and the result is what we are experiencing today.

If we're actually constitutionalists and conservatives, then if blame is to be spread, we need to recognize that the leaders of the separate-but-equal legislative branch of govt are just as culpable.
Almost all the blame lies on Congress, IMO. It's hard to assign much to trump since we don't know if he would have signed all the conservative legislation they didn't bother to pass.

Exactly. FAILED leadership is responsible in BOTH the House and the Senate for the past 4 years. My complaint with Trump is his inability to reign in members of his own party. After all he proclaimed that he was such a magnificent deal maker. My other complaint is he waited till the very last few days. Holding his breath and shutting down the government will prove futile in the next couple of days and then, in reality, what options does he have other than to go along with what he can eek out of Chuckie and Nancy.
It make him look incompetent and inept. His meeting with Chuckie and Nancy was all nothing more than a stage show.

He fully knew that Chuck and Nancy would never approve ... so calling the media in was fruitless and foolish. What did it accomplish? Putting the blame on the shoulders of the DEMS? Therein lies yet another problem. We sure as heck don't want to keep electing the same people who continue to break their promises election after election. Unfortunately, they often run unopposed or the opposition is under funded and/or unheard of and so they continue to get elected. The only other alternatives are to elect a liberal or refrain from voting.

It was Ryan for his making unnecessary compromises. It was Ryan for telling the President and us that he's going full out obstructionist because he's keeping the Speakership even though he's retiring and doesn't have to answer to the voters--or anyone-- again.
Nearly forty members of the Republican caucus in the House chose retirement en masse ... greasing the wheels for a flip in the House. We can log this as Ryan's most significant victory.
On the Senate side our majority was cut in half by McCain, the high priest of NTs, refusing to retire and allow an actively voting Senator to replace him. We lost the seat in Alabama because conservatives insisted on nominating a candidate--against the wishes and endorsement of the President-- who had two statewide defeats already under his belt. When the pedophile charges hit, he didn't have the depth of support needed to withstand them. But we got to argue morality for a few months, so I guess losing the seat was worth it.
Murkowski and Collins were reliable "no" votes who delighted in being the outliers and morally superior; and Flake--another one who removed himself from voter outrage---stayed up nights too excited to sleep knowing he was going to stop the President. It didn't matter that he was also stopping his pro-America agenda, he was stopping the man.
By and large Republicans don't suck. Republican NTs do. What we're now witnessing is the Republican NT chickens coming home to roost. Aim your anger at them. They've earned it.

Are you suggesting that Paul Ryan had the influence to get 40 Representatives to retires?? My God, that level of leadership hasn't been achieved by the Republicans in my lifetime. Trump must be jealous.

Last time I checked, Trump called in the media circus knowing full well that Chuckie and Nancy weren't going to budge. Why would they? ALL knew that the new Congress would be sworn in, in just a few short days. So .... why would they budge knowing that the House bill was DOA in the current Senate and new DEM House?
If you want to continue to allow the politicians and our president to play the blame game go for it. He can blame the DEMS all he wants, but at the end of the day, what difference does it make? Why didn't Trump play this hand last year and stay strong? The only people it matters to is the GOP voting base. The DEMS are happy that their leadership has stood strong ...NO wall. Their voting base is happy. They won this one. The American people and especially Trump supporters lost BIGLY on this one. Most realized that the Senate was never going to budge. The narcissistic side of Trump took over and he failed.
Meanwhile we have Kelly even disputing that Trump's intent is not to build a concrete "WALL" but rather steel slats that can be seen through! No one is patting the RINO's on the back here; especially, McCain, Jeb or Kasich. They are RINO's. Trump has done some good for this country and he has tried to turn America around and put her on a positive path. I am not denying that.
His willingness several months ago to hand the DEMS amnesty for DACA IS unacceptable and he has FAILED to deliver on the WALL, the very issue that handed him the presidency. IF he was so intent on the wall, that should have been priority since day one and not waiting till the eleventh hour when he knew a bill would never pass the Senate and would be DOA in the next Congress and call in the media to make it a circus for all to view.

The other fact is the new Congress will be sworn in on January 3rd, which will make the House bill null and void. Perhaps there will be a vote either on the 1st (if they reconvene) or the 2nd, but I'm not holding my breath nor am I holding my breath that there will be enough votes in the Senate.

No, Trump himself is the plague. You know what is funny? That Lindsey Graham obviously and openly opposes Trump but people like you hang on Grahams every word. Lindsey Graham goes around with his little press conferences telling everyone how he is correcting Trumps ill informed ways. Its OK with you right? Its Lindsey Graham at the head of the opposition to immigration and always has been. But Trump keeps him at his side like a loyal dog. Graham is in there every day pushing the president to except his amnesty and nothing from you about it.

Drug Cartel and their criminal business had been increasing since the early 2000's. I posted an article in the immigration section where a child in LA was describing how most of his friends are dead or in gangs. Our prison data from our very own DOJ tells the story about Federal crime and illegal immigration. It is only one part of a whole of ills caused by illegal immigration. The cost to taxpayers who have to flip the bill for incarceration, food, housing, medical, dental and education for children of illegal immigrants. We are suffocating from the affects of open borders. We can look forward in the very near future to the same way of life that these immigrants claim they are leaving.
I sincerely do feel for the workers and their families of this Federal shutdown. But the scope is much bigger, much wider. It is about the country and its future. I have said that Trump should take this shutdown and ask for all of it. Every bit needed to complete the wall. Whether it is 26 billion or 40. It will all come back because we have rock solid data showing the cost of illegal immigration. If Trump cares about our children and their future he will up the request, not lower it. He will see to it that our border is secured.
Democrats have already announced the first order of business for the new Congress. Bill including border security. 1.3 billion I think was the figure I read for fixing fencing.

Last week his Administration announced they were sending $B's to Mexico and Central America. Yesterday he says he's "thinking" of withholding already approved funds to said Countries. It's becoming hard to keep up with the day to day rhetoric.
Kinda like the Chinese telecom companies spying on everything, one week he advocates for them, the next he's cursing them.
I am becoming more disillusioned by the day with this Administration (if that is even possible), realizing he is my ONLY Hope right now is becoming increasingly depressing with each passing week.

Frederick Forsythe is like that, too. He takes the first couple hundred pages to set the stage. After reading a couple of his novels I knew exactly where to stop, because if I didn't, I was going to be up all night until I finished the novel.
Set aside Rand's philosophy of objectivism, she does a remarkable job of developing characters. Francisco d'Anconia's money speech in the chapter "The Aristocracy of Pull" is must reading. If that's not the DC/Beltway way of life today, I don't know what is.

Yes, he has and he is our only President to make an issue of this vital problem for our country.
But all the NTers do is focus on the fact that he hasn't been able to accomplish it yet and ignore all the roadblocks he has faced.
He's faced two years in which his Republican majority in the House and Senate could not get their act together and work with him on the issue. Just when the Senate is slowly beginning to come around, he lost the House though by a far smaller percentage than most presidents mid-term.
The American people overwhelmingly want border safety.
I am not cheering over the loss of pay for government workers but those people are assured of receiving their back pay eventually and can probably get loans to tide them based on that. On the other hand, unemployment is at a record low level and many people ARE getting paychecks who were not before Trump's economy.
I read Atlas Shrugged and I am not slogging through that opus again. I know she is worshipped by some but not by me.

Drug Cartel and their criminal business had been increasing since the early 2000's. I posted an article in the immigration section where a child in LA was describing how most of his friends are dead or in gangs. Our prison data from our very own DOJ tells the story about Federal crime and illegal immigration. It is only one part of a whole of ills caused by illegal immigration. The cost to taxpayers who have to flip the bill for incarceration, food, housing, medical, dental and education for children of illegal immigrants. We are suffocating from the affects of open borders. We can look forward in the very near future to the same way of life that these immigrants claim they are leaving.
I sincerely do feel for the workers and their families of this Federal shutdown. But the scope is much bigger, much wider. It is about the country and its future. I have said that Trump should take this shutdown and ask for all of it. Every bit needed to complete the wall. Whether it is 26 billion or 40. It will all come back because we have rock solid data showing the cost of illegal immigration. If Trump cares about our children and their future he will up the request, not lower it. He will see to it that our border is secured.
Democrats have already announced the first order of business for the new Congress. Bill including border security. 1.3 billion I think was the figure I read for fixing fencing.

When he does something I like I say so, when he does something I don't like I say so. I did not vote for him, I was not convinced that he would hold Conservative convictions. For the most part he has proven me wrong on that. Of course living in VA it doesn't matter, NoVA and Richmond have been consistently forcing our state blue.
All that being said if he is able to deliver on the wall I will vote for him, if not I will be voting libertarian again.

When he does something I like I say so, when he does something I don't like I say so. I did not vote for him, I was not convinced that he would hold Conservative convictions.
