Joe Biden’s top political donors gathered for an emergency closed-door meeting this weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as his campaign falls behind rivals in both funds and polling.
The New York Times was first to report the meeting on Sunday, noting the financiers were treated to a behind-the-scenes view of the campaign’s headquarters and strategy, including a private address by the former vice president.
“In a sign of the attendees’ significant financial firepower, Mr. Biden himself addressed the several dozen donors who came to the retreat on Saturday, rallying them for 45 minutes about the months ahead, people there said,†the Times reported. “The campaign kept the session with Mr. Biden behind closed doors, despite pledging to open them to the press.â€
The meeting comes as the campaign is besieged by questions over Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine as well as polls showing the former vice president is no longer the frontrunner among 2020 Democrats. Biden, who once led the field by as much 26 percentage points, now trails Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire.

It's hard to see any way Biden holds together long enough to survive the early primaries - I don't think there's enough duct tape out there to do the job. A ringing endorsement from 0bama would help, but that ain't gonna happen. If Bernie's heart attack knocks him out early and he throws his support to Warren, it's all over. Biden won't just lose, he'll end up being totally irrelevant to the campaign and party platform.

I'd bet that most of those donors are only with Biden because they're terrified of Warren. There's a growing sense that her election would throw financial markets into chaos and that prospect can make even the staunchest wealthy liberal nervous.

That's pretty much what's happening - a slow motion train wreck. Biden will hang around for a while, only because the anybody-but-Warren contingent doesn't have anywhere else to go. He's in a lose-lose situation - continue to ignore Warren, ceding more and more primary voters to her; or go head-to-head with her to try to slow her down, and most likely get crushed like a bug. Six months ago it was Biden's to lose, and he didn't waste any time doing so. Now it's clearly Warren's to lose, and she has little to fear from Biden - it would take a major new damaging revelation to derail her.

The longer old slow Joe hangs in there, the better, but he is irreparably damaged and will continue to gaffe. Warren is being called on her continued lies which is great. Bernie will stroke out from his finger-wagging anger at the next debate, which leaves a big fat opening for big fat Hitlery.

I used to think that, assuming he could undermine Warren and Sanders. But he'd been so ineffective that it might be better to get him out and make room for someone who might at least put up a fight. I still don't think Warren is where the bulk of mainstream dems want to be.

Does not matter where they "want to be" The only thing that matters is that they will fall in line unless she pulls a Gary Hart. If slow Joe gets out and Shrillary does not jump in the only thing that will stop her is getting caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.
Bernie is a 25th amendment waiting to happen, Beta is a joke, Kamala is falling off the fund raising bandwagon, Butt jig is to young and no one knows enough about Yang to like or dislike him.

Actually, Yang is probably the most brilliant Dem running. He supports the idea of a Fair Tax, and so do I. I want to see the elimination of the IRS, and the Fair Tax would make that a possibility.
But let's be clear, Biden was NEVER in this race. His history made it clear he would be lucky to make it through New Hampshire. He is just that stupid.
Warren will never be the candidate because there are just enough folks with a brain in the Democommie Party not to allow that to happen.
Sanders is done thanks to the betrayal of his body.
THAT LEAVES ONLY HRC....I expect her announcement right after the November debate.
