CBS reporter Catherine Herridge said Monday that the NSA had been unable to corroborate a story published by The New York Times about Russia putting a bounty on coalition soldiers in Afghanistan.

According to that story, Russia’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) had offered bounties to Afghan terrorists for killing coalition troops — including American soldiers.

But as Herridge tweeted Monday, she was told by an intelligence officer that the report was not “verifiable” and lacked “sufficient reporting to corroborate any links.”

“The official said the inteligence collection report reached ‘low levels’ NSC but did not go further, not briefed POTUS, or VP because it was deemed ‘uncorroborated’ and ‘dissent intelligence community’,” Herridge added.

Considering how many US troops are in regular contact with many Afghans in many circumstances, "Cannot corroborate" is significant. Talibanders who knew there was a bounty would not be silent about it to other Afghans or while fighting US troops. If the bounty were real there would have been scores or hundreds of corroborative sources.

Somebody tell Liz Cheney.

I have a better idea.  Liz can ask all these people herself.

CIA Director Gina Haspel, National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien nor White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows

Somebody needs to tell Nancy and Chuckie and the RINO's as well.

Uhh.... what good would that do?   They probably already know the story is BS.... and they are deathly allergic to the truth and wouldn't appreciate being informed of such.  JS....

Right. Such information would sweep through the enemy ranks like advertising free beer at a college gathering would sweep through a campus.

Everyone in the enemy ranks would be looking for a payday.

This is the work of people still desperate to lay a scandal at Trump's doorstep in an election year.

They're not only throwing as much crap at Trump as they can lay their grubby hands on, they're flat making sh*t up.

The objective, I think, isn't to actually catch Trump doing something wrong, or even give the impression he did something wrong. The rat media's objective with these stories is to make voters want to get rid of Trump just so they'll shut the hell up.

Taking Freedom of the Press liberties until they become fabricated political "Hit Pieces" have been taken too far.

I'm up for some of these pukes doing jail time, if that fact is proven.

Given the 1st Amendment there's precious little that can be done except start a new network, independent of the rat narrative.

But they've got that covered as well. Apparently its a hate crime to wear a OAN T-shirt - in Oklahoma.

Do you realize that not acting or ignoring intel on bounties on U.S. Servicemen, is the political impact equivant of being proven to be a  child molester?   Instant politcal suicide......

Are you really that naive?

Nah, I'm not naive.
I also realize that (since this is a Cold War sounding sort of thing, if true) the wet work is better taken care of off camera and unannounced.
Usually, however, that can best be done if the target doesn't know they are a target, which the NYT has unfailingly pulled the lid off of.

Had the Trump administration verified and acted upon such intelligence, what would be the Russian reaction to the targeted elimination of Russian operatives engaged in paying bounties to the Taliban for killing Americans?

If the story is a complete fabrication, it's inexcusable tabloid partisanship on their part.

If there's something to it, they have become a threat to national security and should be shut down...
...or maybe just have an unfortunate accident on the subway.

The left is like a domestic abuser. He keeps beating his wife until she agrees to whatever he wants and then he will be nice.

If the country rewards this type of behavior it won't stop.

One thing we can be sure of is Trump would tell the military to do that if there were any truth to the accusation.

Either that or the work behind the scenes to identify and eliminate the players would be going full swing...at least until the NYT blabbed.

Why is classified material being leaked to the New York Times?

Maybe (well, no maybe to it), some one with a big mouth and a partisan hard-on needs to have their pee-pee whacked.

I agree completely.

It seems like everything and anything is going against Trump, but I talk with a lot of people who have been lifelong rats (because "they are for the people" don't you know) and some are starting to say they are coming around to my way of thinking. I keep saying this election is really about Liberty vs. Tyranny. People have to be getting fed up with the phony outrages.
