Fox’s Martha MacCallum and Kellyanne Conway exchange over polls gets testy
June 27, 2020 | Frieda Powers

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway dismissed concerns about President Trump’s poll numbers following weeks of civil unrest and a global pandemic.

Conway was confronted by Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on Friday about national polls showing Trump behind presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden and a piece by the Wall Street Journal editorial board criticizing the president because he “refuses to acknowledge what every poll now says is true.”

“You hear those editorials, a lot of that sentiment out there today that says that the president sort of needs to shift, needs to understand that the moment has changed, and to meet people where they are in the country right now. What do you say to that?” MacCallum asked, referring to the Wall Street Journal column.

The piece claimed that Trump has “reverted to his worst form,” and that he is heading for a “historic repudiation that would take the Republican Senate down with him.”

“Lately he has all but given up even talking about the pandemic when he might offer realism and hope about the road ahead even as the country reopens,” The Journal editorial board wrote, adding that instead of “empathetic leadership after the death of George Floyd,” which the country needs, the president only “offers combative tweets that inflame.”

Conway responded to MacCallum’s question and the editorial, expressing that the poll numbers are not surprising given the turmoil facing the country in the last few weeks and months.

“Three things are happening right now. We had a global pandemic that still is with us, coronavirus cases. We have an economic crisis that the president is handling, and also we have some social unrest, people calling for racial justice and the like,” Conway said, adding that the president “is on top of all three.”

She noted that Biden “is completely absent from the conversation, which is why his polls are high,” and added that people are “putting onto Joe Biden exactly what they want him to be, what they expect him to be.”

Well Kellyanne the turmoil is much to do with Trumps rhetoric and stupidity.  The best he could do is walk across to the church and hold up a Bible.  One I am certain gets no use.

All this talk of polls looking bad, and Trump needing to change his rhetoric or shift his position, all sounds so familiar.... almost as if something like this had happened recently... oh, maybe four or so years ago...?
*hmmmm*

No you won't because you are enjoying yourself too much.  But I stand by what I said.  If he reads it, then it isn't evident.  It isn't bias to use your own eyes and ears.

Ok, I’ll play along.  You’re exceptionally good at slinging arrows at him.   (Actually you’re not, your intellectually dishonest crap gets real old, but I’m playing along)

Enlighten us.   What should he do differently...ABOUT THE THREE SUBJECTS CITED HERE?

IOW, tweet less, etc., won’t cut it.   You threw the arrow, what should he be doing, within the confines of the Constitution, differently.   Be specific, no platitudes please.

Conway has an interesting relationship w/hubby Gorge.
The latter urinates in the media on Trump, virtually every single
day, while the former neither speaks, sees or hears evil in Trump.
Must be fun when these 2 are at home w/the kids.

Insurrection Act

Trump is talking, talking about prosecuting.  These are extraordinary times.  Our history is being destroyed.  There is widespread anarchy throughout the entire United States.  I posted about truckers being attacked on interstates.  Its way past time.

You can attack me, but Trump is the one watching our country going to hell and talking about prosecuting after the fact.  I am sorry but that isn't law and order.

You can stand by all your want, but it doesn't make it any more true.

You don't have experience, muchless the authority, to stand by anything and give it credilibity.

Has anyone seen Trumps twitter today.  It has turned into America's most wanted tweets.

He's talking about the violence.  Talking is a first step isn't it?  And he has the pictures of the criminals wanted.  What's he doing about it?

It’s far better to ignore the old fashioned way. Scroll. That way you have daily confirmation of why you wanted to ignore in the first place. Keeps you humble.

@Chosen Daughter

So, you’re suggesting he invoke the Insurrection Act for Coronavirus and for the economy?  I asked for all three.  You cited one.  So either you’re a special kind of stupid, or you’re just being deliberately obtuse here.

But re: the Insurrection Act.  So you think 5 months out from an election (probably shouldn’t matter, but this is the real world, not your puritanical fantasy land), where there are racially hyper-charged riots (doesn’t matter who the Act is imposed against, it WILL be screamed from every rooftop that he’s attacking people of color...again: real world here sweetie), against an opposition that is trying to paint him as a dictator....AND even though he has done everything within the Constitution to encourage the state governors to handle their business, you think that is the most prudent course of action AND that’s the extent of your solutions?

Bless your heart....

Regarding the other two things that I asked for your brilliant solutions , I suspect you think you were being coy, but all youve really done is show that you have no suggestions and will use any issue, any approach, any cudgel, any hammer, any noun, verb or adjective at your disposal to rag on him because  he didn’t tie his shoes correctly  to your pleasure.

You are a tired bore.  You spout the same drivel day in and day out and you have ZERO intellectual honesty. You and LA:  opposite sides of the same coin  (Oh..and ask around...I’m NOT a big Trump supporter, you are just that far out there in barking moonbat territory)

Maybe I can muster one more boring comment for the night.  I'll try.

COVID.  All unnecessary travel banned. Should have stopped all travel and advised US citizens to leave China within a reasonable time period or risk staying in China.  Upon entry those people should have been quarantined.  Stop European and world travel.  Same travel bans as China citizens should have come home immediately or stay put where they were. Quarantine upon return to states.  Close Southern border no exceptions.  Strongly encourage all people over 60 or with underlying health conditions to stay home.  Unemployment benefits for those not healthy enough to risk the COVID.

Economy would have been fine with the exception of travel industry and some vacation and seasonal tourism business.  Sure wouldn't have needed to spend billions giving to rich corporations who gave bonuses on the taxpayer.  It was a bank bailout repeat.  The unemployment subsidies of 600.00 a week.  Business and economy killer.  Why would people want to work?  And they didn't., want to.  Its hard to get people to come back.

Everyone else continue to work and use mask and good hygiene practices.  Social distancing is good.

With the food industry they stayed open, most of them.  McDonalds never closed.   Some restaurants had to close.  Take out worked if they could do it.  People really did figure it out.  Sneeze guards at the stores.....etc.  If the grocery stores can stay open everyone can.  Of course it is necessary but it is one of the biggest germ spreaders out there.  And people's businesses are necessary too.  People pick things up and put them down.  They hover over the produce and meat.  Picking up fruit and putting it back down when it has a bruise...

And its 10:00 I am slowing down the reason for the modifications in my post.  As I think of them.

We didn't need to shut this country down.  We needed common sense.  People ran out and got stupid as soon as things started opening up.  Had we been open and using common sense people would not have done that.  We should have tried to keep some kind of normalcy with some common sense changes to slow the spread.  And large gatherings are not smart.  Not for protesters or political rallies.  Not for Concerts or state fairs.  Not at all for now.
