Beto O'Rourke 'Vanity Fair' profile mocked for stories about ex-girlfriends, bookshelves and his 'near-mythical experience'

Beto O’Rourke is officially in the 2020 presidential race, but early polling suggests his Vanity Fair profile isn’t going over well.

O’Rourke, who announced to his supporters Thursday morning he was tossing his hat in the ring for the Democratic nomination, was the star of a fawning, 8,600-word opus published by the prestigious magazine on Wednesday.

The wide-ranging interview is the cover story of the latest edition of the magazine, with the 46-year-old boldly declaring he was "just born to do this"....

...“My sense is that Beto O’Rourke doesn’t want to be president as much as he wants to be an indie movie about a guy running for president,” Chicago Tribune columnist Rex Huppke added....

Like all scrappy salt-of-the-earth, organic campaigns with their pulse on the base Beto's is launched with a Vanity Fair cover spread,” one reader tweeted. :silly: :silly: :silly:

RNC spokesman Michael Ahrens saying in a statement: “It’s telling that the Democrats’ biggest star is someone whose biggest accomplishment is losing. Beto O’Rourke failed to get anything done in Congress, and with extreme policies like government-run health care and tearing down border barriers, his 2020 bid won’t be successful either.”

Damn straight.

I think that is a fair statement.

I think that is a fair statement.

Rick Santorum made a career of the very same thing, at least for 3 presidential cycles. He'll probably milk it some more in 2020, as a cable news analyst as the "former presidential candidate."

I think he's a little bit too late to the Party.  He's not female and certainly it doesn't seem he's a far to the left as some of the whacked out females of his party who have gotten so much attention lately.  Definitely not an Omar or AOC.  He's a White Christian (Catholic to boot) male; to many DEMS that's just plain evil.

Faux/fake is out but for one.  HR Clinton will be the Democommie candidate in 2020.  I suspect she waits until the fall when the clown car act have beaten each other up a little, and everyone and their brother has announced.  She will be received like a breath of fresh air by the Democommies.  Herky-jerky Beto will come in a good 4th or 5th in the race, behind HRC, Bernie, and one of the others yet to be determined because who knows how 20 will finish out.  HRC has a solid 35%+ in each race while the rest divide the other 65%.  That gets her to the finish live easily, and she is sitting there laughing right now, because she knows she will clean their clocks.  By the time the field is whiddled down, Bernie will be too far behind t catch up.

And I believe the DNC will once again undermine the Socialist flake every step of the way, for after all, he is not a Dem.
