Trump says he hopes to have economy reopen by Easter

President Trump on Tuesday said he hopes to have the country’s economy back up and running by Easter — Sunday, April 12 — his most concrete goal to date for easing off restrictions meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Trump in a Fox News virtual town hall doubled down on his push to reopen businesses in a matter of weeks in order to reinvigorate the U.S. economy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“It's not built to shut down. Our people are full of vim and vigor and energy. They don’t want to be locked in a house or an apartment or some space,†Trump said during a Fox News town hall Tuesday afternoon.

I love his optimism, and I see no reason not to be hopeful that normalcy can, and will return soon.
I have faith that President Trump will reassess our situation as we get closer to the end of the 15 day guideline.
I am sure he will make the right call with the voluminous and expert information he has access to. #WAAITT

Depends on the circumstance. April 12 might be optimistic for the whole country but there will likely be quite a few places where it will be safe to return to normality.
Considering New York has already seen new cases start to plateau, we're on the right track.

I'm still predicting Nevada will keep the Casinos closed the full 30 days that started last week. I'd be happy if they open earlier, but it doesn't affect me directly so I'm just a spectator. I'd just like to see the 8K people from my town going back to earning paychecks. I wonder if there are a lot of habitual gamblers in Vegas jonesing? 30 days off might break a few habits.

Almost every day I listen to Scott Adams' podcast.
He predicts there will be an incremental "reopening," based on risk.
He seems good at predicting things. (I think he has info from the WH).

I watched yesterday's morning show this morning. Dilbert thinks a miracle will happen too. I want to believe that, but with this President at the helm, I have a hard time gathering faith.

The simple truth is the vast majority of the population hasn't developed any immunity to this so far.
As long as the virus is loose in the environment and people are susceptible it will not end.
Something like 60% of the population has to be infected and develop immunity before the spreading mechanism is attenuated significantly.
Slowing it down buys more time for both expanded medical resources (more beds, ventilators, etc.) and new treatments.
It is what it is.

Am hearing some anecdotal reports that the virus is not rapdily mutating asmuch as feared. That at least is a good sign.

It's not. It was a statement made for public consumption and to ease the fear in the markets.
I sense that "not much" is going to "reopen" by Easter, particularly in the hardest-hit states.
After the second/third week of May, things may begin to get better.
We need to see the upward curve of "new daily infections" level off, plateau, then begin to head downward. When the "R rate" drops below 1.0, then it's time to start transitioning back towards normalcy.

The President himself said during yesterday's presser that they're watching parts of the West, the heartland and Texas with low infection rates --- these could be the areas to reopen after the 15 days. @truth_seeker

They're about life in the corporate world, the funny parts. Wish my paper ran the daily. Scott Adams worked at Pac-Tel in the Bay area before he got success in the comics business.

BA economics, MBA, he also worked in banking, including Budget Finacial Analyst, lending. Hobby of Hypnotism. Writing books, and public speaking.
When he correctly predicted the 2016 Trump win, I wanted to learn about him, so I began listening to the Periscope in early 2017.
I found his thinking to be very insightful. Particularly the basis for his prediction. The single most important skill he holds, is deep understanding of Persuasion.
For years I wrote here pre-Trump, that some "conservatives" were deficient in Persuasion.
Most of his detractors are on the left and call him cartoon boy, etc.
