Why did British bystanders watch a soldier get hacked to death?

Posted By Mike Piccione On 1:27 PM 05/24/2013 In Guns and Gear | No Comments

The recent attack on a British soldier by assassins wielding meat cleavers while bystanders looked on raises the question: “Why didn’t anyone try to help the victim?”

Because British citizens are prohibited from carrying objects that could be used as “offensive weapons.”

While it is well known that Brits cannot carry guns, a lesser known law prohibits any subject of the Queen from carrying a knife of consequence, pepper spray or a stun gun.

According to the United Kingdom government website, the online storehouse of British government regulations, it is illegal to:

sell a knife of any kind (including cutlery and kitchen knives) to anyone under 18
carry a knife in public without good reason – unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife
carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife
use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife)

Folding knives, regardless of blade size, with a locking mechanism are illegal in the U.K. for carry in public and are referred to as “lock knives.” According to British law, “The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and a fine of £5,000.”

Pepper spray is also illegal under section 5(1)(b) of the Firearms Act 1968, which prohibits “any weapon of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas or other thing.”

It is illegal to import pepper spray or a stun gun because British law expressly states that pepper spray and stun guns are classified as firearms. Blow guns are classified as “offensive weapons” and are prohibited to own, except for veterinarians or registered animal handlers.

According to the UK website, “Having an offensive weapon in a public place without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse can also lead to a fine and/or up to four years in prison.”

If you are known to have imported and possess the weapon the legal ramification is a fine and a prison sentence of up to ten years.

A reasonable excuse is defined as:

taking knives you use at work to and from work
you’re taking knives to a gallery or museum to be exhibited
the knife is going to be used for theatre, film, television, historical reenactment or religious purposes (eg the kirpan some Sikhs carry)

The government also states, however, “A court will decide if you’ve got a good reason to carry a knife if you’re charged with carrying it illegally.”

Pretty accurate summary of our laws.

Welcome to the nanny state.

I will say one thing, from the footage coming out and a few things from people who happened to be there at the time.

No one ran. They actually walled in the attackers. Kinda proud of my townsmates for that.

It took three planes to go down before the passengers on the fourth took out the hijackers.  A significant majority of them from NJ.

In many parts of the US, they would have been shot dead before they could land a second blow.

I hate second guessing and I understand they have no arms to defend themselves but by gawd they could have thrown rocks or shoes at them...anything for crying out loud!

And I believe many Americans would rush, tackle, risk themselves with their bare hands, too. I believe I would.

Maybe a Brit too, especially if he was carrying his cricket bat on his way to/from the cricket pitch.

Maybe some football hooligans, too, especially after a few pints.

Western civilized nations should be holding a conference, about what to do about muslim violence. Throw out all non-citizens, revoke citizenship, quarantine, take away govt. benefits, anything/everything should be on the table to send messages: Not Welcome Here Anylonger, to Do That

In the meantime formerly peaceful Sweden burned again last night and it spread out of the capital.

Because British citizens are prohibited from carrying objects that could be used as “offensive weapons.”

But...but...if that's the law, why did those 2 guys who attacked the soldier have them?

It took three planes to go down before the passengers on the fourth took out the hijackers.  A significant majority of them from NJ.

The fourth plane passengers realized after receiving calls that three had been deliberately crashed--therefore they took action to keep the plane away from DC.  Before 9/11, no one imagined these scenarios.

The Brits, ever true to Liberal ideology, move swiftly to deal with this act of violence.

The murder of soldier Lee Rigby has provoked a backlash of anger across the UK, including the attacking of mosques, racial abuse and comments made on social media.

Eleven people have been arrested around Britain for making 'racist or anti-religious' comments on Twitter following the brutal killing in Woolwich on Wednesday.

The incident has also prompted a huge increase in anti-Muslim incidents, according to the organisation Faith Matters, which works to reduce extremism...

It comes as 22-year-old man appeared before magistrates in Lincoln today charged with posting a 'grossly offensive' anti-Muslim message on Facebook following the Woolwich murder.

Benjamin Flatters, of Swineshead, Lincs, faces a charge under the 1988 Malicious Communications Act following a message he posted on Facebook on 22 May which is alleged to be offensive to Muslims.

No details of the message were given at the hearing but another man was warned about his conduct on social media.

My guess is this guy Flatters will get more time than will the 2 Muslims who killed that soldier.

But the story doesn't end there:

His court appearance came within 24 hours of Lincolnshire Police warning users of social networking sites such as Facebook that they face arrest if posts were likely to incite racial hatred or violence.

A force spokesman said 'We have received a number of reports from local members of the public about tweets and Facebook comments that could potentially incite racial hatred and violence...

'We would urge people to consider the very real impact of their online comments in relation to this matter.'

Flatters court appearance comes after two men were arrested and released on bail for making alleged offensive comments on Twitter about the murder of Lee Rigby.

Complaints were made to Avon and Somerset Police about remarks that appeared on the social networking website, which were allegedly of a racist or anti-religious nature.

A 23-year-old and a 22-year-old, both from Bristol, were held under the Public Order Act on suspicion of inciting racial or religious hatred.

Fug it. That's enough about the English.

I just want to add that I have also seen reports that the citizens of Sweden are taking measures to deal with the Muslim rioters there because the police are failing to do the job. So guess who the police are targeting for suppression? I haven't added this story yet because the one source on which I saw it was not totally reliable.

So let's see what the scorecard shows us: Muslims kill a British soldier in London; Muslims are rioting in Sweden; it appears a Muslim stabbed a police officer in France; in the US 2 Muslims set off bombs which killed and injured several persons in Boston. Meanwhile the President assures us in a major speech on terrorism that it is not global and he never mentions Muslims are responsible for most of this not global terrorism. Oh, ok, and we are as stupid as Obama thinks we are.

It's remarkable what "ordinary" people are able to do when their backs are against the wall.  Yes, they died.  But like men, free men.

It's amazing - and dismaying - to observe how fast Great Britain and its citizens are crumbling in the face of islam.

The rapid "dhimmification" of an entire nation…

Then again, "submission" isn't a new concept to them -- they are "subjects", anyway...

Shock and events that are too far outside of their (myopic) frame of reference - it literally wasn't "real" to them.  Quite likely, in this day and age of "edgy" performance artists, many of them probably thought it was just another hyper-realistic performance by a bunch of "guerrilla" actors.

Time for quiet action.
