Ilhan Omar visits Columbia campus and reports students are ‘joyfully protesting’

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) appeared on Columbia University’s campus Thursday to witness the “anti-war encampment.”

Large groups have gathered at Columbia, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Some protesters have gone further by calling for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reportedly targeting Jewish students with threats. The New York Police Department has since deployed its counterterrorism unit on campus after arresting 100 protesters on suspicion of trespassing.

“I had the honor of seeing the Columbia University anti-war encampment firsthand. Contrary to right-wing attacks, these students are joyfully protesting for peace and an end to the genocide taking place in Gaza,” Omar said of her visit. “I’m in awe of their bravery and courage.”

Biden efforts to pocket Pennsylvania in jeopardy after write-in votes pass 60,000 mark in primary

President Joe Biden may have an uphill battle ahead of him in Pennsylvania after the write-in candidate option on the Democratic primary ballot notched over 60,000 votes.

While the list of all the write-in entries has yet to be revealed, an organized protest effort against Biden was launched in the Keystone State that urged voters upset with his handling of the Israel–Hamas war to vote against him.

Uncommitted PA, the group that spearheaded the campaign, set a goal of 40,000 “uncommitted” votes during the primary. The Associated Press had tallied 60,223 total write-in votes with 99% of the vote counted as of Thursday afternoon.

“We are celebrating that massive victory of over 60,000 votes, which have nearly doubled the total of write-ins in 2020, and even more so than the write-ins in 2016,” Rah Noonan, an organizer with Uncommitted PA, told the Washington Examiner.

The coalition mobilized the write-in campaign in roughly one month, launching on March 25 with only volunteer members, a sign of the intense passion girding the movement.

Biden is a stunning 10 points away from reelection lock

Head-to-head presidential preference polls are all the rage, but ever since Dwight D. Eisenhower’s reelection in 1956, the pros have looked to approval ratings as the key to an incumbent’s chances.

And for President Joe Biden, the numbers look bad.

While he is even or leading former President Donald Trump in some racehorse polls, Biden’s approval rating is about 10 points under the previous record low of a winning incumbent.

That was former President George W. Bush, who beat then-Sen. John Kerry, despite having a 48% approval rating.

In a new Hill/DDHQ survey, just 38.6% approve of Biden, 58.1% don’t. In the Gallup tracking poll, Biden is at 40% approval.

Pollsters such as Gallup have said that an approval of 50% or higher is the key to reelection. Drop below, and chances shrink to just 50-50.

Bush had the lowest approval rating in decades, but a recent Gallup analysis noted that “he registered multiple 50% readings earlier in the month and had a 51% approval rating among likely voters in that final survey.” Biden hasn’t seen 50% since late July 2021.

This is likely a catfishing scam. The female pic vs. the real guy on the other end.

"Maybe we can meet sometime?"
