Biden is set to repeat Obama’s Mideast failures — and wipe out US influence

Every now and then, America mislays one of its Mideast allies. “Who lost Iran?” they asked in 1979, as the shah’s regime went sideways, the answer being Jimmy Carter and the State Department. “Who lost Egypt?” they asked in 2012, as the Muslim Brotherhood took power, the answer being Barack Obama and the State Department.

“Who lost Israel?” will soon be added to this perplexed refrain. The answer will be President Biden and the State Department.

But this time, America will be losing the region as a whole — to its historic rival, Russia. Iranian mischief will wax again, and Washington’s Arab and Israeli allies will move on without anyone losing much sleep over what the White House thinks about anything. This is a deliberate strategic choice, and it will lead to the collapse of American influence in western Asia.

Obama's failures?

For the Democrats, those were not 'bugs', they were features.

So who lost Iraq, jackass!!!!
More importantly, the M.E. matters because of energy, yet as more

You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.

In the last four years the US achieved energy independence, changing our role and position in the Middle East.  Much to the displeasure of the Cheney bloodline and its political allies, we were finally in a position to recommend a course of action without investing our blood and treasure.  We could walk away from the whole damn sand trap and still fuel our economy and lifestyle --- exporting the extra.

What was accomplished these four years is an astonishing shift in paradigms that strengthened America's independence, wealth and stature --- making this nation more powerful and influential on the world stage.

As a result, fresh eyes brought fresh ideas that were welcomed and peace caught fire in the Middle East with blood feuds giving way to alliances against a common enemy, Iran.

And now?  Thirty days in and our energy independence is being dismantled and Iran will receive the support of the United States.

Americans need to be reminded there's no going back.

RinVa laments:
"Americans need to be reminded there's no going back..."

I reckon at least 35-40% of 'em... maybe more... don't care.

And a good number of those are ready to cheer on the entrance of socialism and its march towards its eventual successor...

The Middle East matters...?

To Europe, which doesn't have any remaining significant fossil fuels is set to become the vassal of whoever gets them the best deal on real energy resources.

To China, which doesn't have any significant fossil fuels, either.

To all sorts of other s-hole countries that want to modernize.

But NOT to the US.  The ME was important to the US during the Cold War because we weren't properly extracting our own resources....didn't know what we had, for the most part.   Thanks to President Trump, the US achieved energy independence and should have properly told all those Middle Eastern s-hole countries that they should go ahead and kill as many of themselves as they can, we'll be glad to sell them the guns and bombs and airplanes to do it with.  But that our citizen-soldiers are coming home, those fights over there are no longer our fights, they have ceased to have strategic relevance to the world's superpower.

So long as they restrict themselves to killing each other over there, I don't see it being any of our business.

And if they resume killing us over here, we shouldn't play pansy games with them like Bushy and the Illegal Alien did, we should nuke whichever and however many of the cities over there that make us feel better.   Time for playing patty-cake with those animals should be over by now.

You are absolutely correct. Energy independence was one of Trump's greatest accomplishments. Who knows what 'deals' are now being made with Iran.

I fear for the future of our country and I fear our government.
