Title: Favorite Westerns
Post by: bkepley on October 01, 2015, 11:33:48 pm
I noticed "The Long Riders" is on tonight.  It's a very good western.  My number one movie of all time is "Once Upon a Time in the West".  Others - "Unforgiven", "Pale Rider", "Wyatt Earp", "High Plains Drifter", others I've forgotten..

Have you checked out the "Tombstone - and the Western genre" thread? It's pinned in the Sports/Entertainment/Arts section.

Other than a spell in which I read every single thing McMurtry wrote (and many of his books more than once) I have never read a "western" I guess.  If anyone would like to recommend a "western" writer I'd appreciate it.  My grandpa used to read them constantly but I was too young to find out what he was reading.

Terry C. Johnston wrote 31 historical fiction novels,  about the West and the people. Covered about 1820 to 1890.

Plains Indians, Custer, and a whole lot more.
