TRIANGLE, Va. — The most decorated Marine in the Corps’ history is getting another honor.

Workers on Tuesday will install an 8-foot statue of Marine Corps legend Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller outside the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

Puller, who retired a three-star general, was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He is the only Marine to be awarded five Navy crosses.

The statue is being donated by the Marine Corps League and will be formally dedicated next month.

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, which runs the museum just outside Marine Corps Base Quantico, will put the statue at Semper Fidelis Memorial Park. The park is adjacent to the museum.

An official dedication ceremony for the sculpture, crafted by Terry Jones, is scheduled for Nov. 12.
