@240B, thanks...I do that when I copy and paste the address of an image, but I don't know how to do it with a pic from my computer.  I thought I had to use the attachment button for that.

I posted it because I see so many image posts that are absolutely gigantic. Using this format make pics more manageable and legible.

Eventually attachments have to be deleted because there is only limited space on the server for attachments.

If you want to post an image, put the url between the img tags, and then use the width or height attributes in the opening tag to set the width, or height, of the image (normally the image will maintain its aspect ratio if you just set one of the attributes).

For example, suppose you have an image that is 1,000px in width and you want to post it so it has a width of only 450px.  To do that you would post the following:
Code: [Select]
[img width=450]http://www.mypicurl.tld[/img]

you don't have to use attachments to post a pic....copy and paste the url between the img tags.....you might want to open a photobucket account and store some of your fav photos there...it is free and lots of free storage

@mystery-ak

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to find a storage site.  I closed my Photobucket because it had so many problems.  I use the image tags when I find pics from the web, but I don't know how to get the url of a pic already saved on my computer.

Unfortunately, unless you have your own computer set up as a server, you can't link to a photo on your own computer.  You can put pictures up on tinypic.com and then use the url they provide you with to link to it.

Thanks, @Oceander.  I've heard tinypic is a good site, so I'll try them.

Is there a 'help' topic somewhere around here related to posting something from Twitter?

I found a way to embed tweets, but there's a bug in the software somewhere that only allows Admins to do it.  The best we can do is posting screen-shots of tweets.

That explains it!  I knew I had seen embedded tweets, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how it worked and it was pinging my OCD tendencies.  Thank you for clearing it up.   happy77

Or just copy and paste..like I usually do and put it in the quote brackets.

That isn't a bug..it is a security issue  .it requires the use of html and only Admins can use it since the software is html

Yes, that is what I generally do.  I was just curious so I thought I'd ask.  Thanks!
