Going for gold! Team USA (complete with Made in China berets) makes star-spangled entrance at London 2012 Olympic Games

The 530 athletes of Team USA (pictured centre) made a patriotic entrance to the London stadium on Friday night, led by Mariel Zagunis, clad in their Ralph Lauren uniforms and berets and being warmly applauded by First Lady Michelle Obama and Mitt Romney in the stands. The Queen made a seemingly spectacular entrance to the Olympic Opening Ceremony by dropping in from a helicopter by parachute accompanied by James Bond. The ceremony, which was accompanied by a spectacular series of fireworks displays (left), ended when British rower Steve Redgrave handed the Olympic torch over to a number of young athletes so they could light the flame (right) that will burn for the duration of the Games.

Is that appropriate? Dignitary gives questionable salute to German athletes as London Mayor Boris and Camilla can't contain giggles

The elderly man was caught on video repeatedly extending his right arm prompting a few awkward stares. London Mayor Boris Johnson and the Duchess of Cornwall were seen laughing in the background.
